Submitting a FDC while at the same time needing to submit a review for an increase.
I'm preparing to submit documentation for a fully developed claim for some gastrointestinal issues. I'm not worried about it as I have everything I need to get it approved. My last FDC took only 38 days. At the same time, I need to submit paperwork requesting a HLR for a rating in which I received 0%. Would I be better off submitting both at the same time or should I do the FDC first and the HLR later?

Disabled Veterans Life insurance (SDVI) Changes
https://www.va.gov/life-insurance/options-eligibility/s-dvi/ SDVI (The "free" or "waiver of premium" life insurance for disabled Vets) plan has ended Dec. 31, 2022. If you have the plan, you may keep it, and if you had waiver of premiums, they should continue to pay those. My advice: NEVER EVER cancel the SDVI. Never. Its like throwing money away. If you need more life insurance, well, go ahead and get it, but dont give up your existing no cost (premium waived) SDVI. I guarantee you wont get a better deal. VA wants to "Convert" some of those plans to VA life. Dont do it. Its a conversion that costs YOU money. Again, get additional insuran…

Veteran homelessness increases 12% from 2022 to 2023: Study
Source: https://www.newsweek.com/study-veterans-understand-rising-homelessness-opinion-1854668 At about that same time, the VA backlog increased. Coincidence? Not! They did not interview me, a former homeless Veteran who became homeless because the VA denied my claim "even when I had" all 3 Caluza elements. And, then, after a 2 year appeal, the VARO "Implemented" my appeal at zero percent. The VA could have, but did "not" infer pension, even tho I qualified for it which would have prevented homelessness during the long 17 year fight to win benefits. I did not understand the differences between "pension" and "compensation", and did not…

Question about Disability Review Examination
I'm a brand new member and a bit lost in all the resources and information. I would appreciate any advice (or pointing me to a good reference.) Here's my situation: I'm 76 years old and a 27-year Army veteran. I served in Vietnam with an engineer land clearing battalion and was exposed to Agent Orange. When I retired in 1996 I was given a 20% rating due to skin issues including skin cancer. I had multiple sign cancers and Mohs surgeries afterward. Many years later I developed Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, and the VA rated me at 100%. The decision letter said the evaluation was "not considered permanent" and would be reviewed after two years. I recently got a let…

Need advice on ending fiduciary requirement
Background. I'm rated 100% P&T since 2006, backdated to 2003 due to CUE for Depression/Anxiety and Dementia due to trauma(old TBI rating criteria). The old Hadit site and forum was instrumental in helping me with my claims (I couldn't get my old account back). But, they deemed me to be incompetent to handle my funds and withheld my backpay which was considerable. Having been bankrupted by private medical bills to diagnose me and prove my claims, I could not appeal and wait for months to receive a new ruling and my backpay without losing my house which was in default. Ironically it was financially prudent and expedient to just get my wife as fiduciary to get our b…

Diverticulitis Claim
Hello all. I am currently SC for IBS at 30%. With that being said, I have had pretty severe Diverticultis for a few years as well. My diverticulitis presents in such a way that it would classify closely as ulcerative colitis (DC 7323) which the VA uses based on symptoms. My symptoms would easily get me 60%. I’m a huge mess and visit the hospital a few times a year for it not to mention other minor flare ups treated with antibiotics. What would be the suggestion on how to get this SC? Would it be best to try to get it as secondary to IBS? I just want to be cautious as to not have them lump it together with IBS. Documentation, diagnoses and continuous tre…
