Rating Phase Question?
Hi, I filed for 3 claims on may 10 12. I had 3 c&ps on june 4 12. I found out that my claims are at the preparation for decision and it also says my claims are at the rating phase. I am not sure what the rating phase is. The va has a lot of lingo and would like to know. Is rating phase close to a decision? I know that the va can jump us all over the board. Thanks for any info.

Bva Remand Moving Along
My appeal was remanded back to appeal management center for futher development the end of June, had C&P in July, also sent additional info to them and I got info today my appeal is now with a rating specialist for decisions. I am hoping that it will come soon. This has been a long appeal process starting in 2003 and nine years later I am this close. Keeping my fingers that I will get a positive decision very soon!

Bva...3 Years, 4 Months Behind.
I just called to check on my Board of Veterans Appeals claim and to ask the docket date. Ebenefits was confusing. At any rate, they told me my "docket date" was April, 2009, and they are working April 09 docket dates, and I should have an answer in 30 days. So, if you are interested, the BVA is 3 years, 4 months behind currently. This is not from the date of the RO decision, but rather from the docketed date at the BVA. The RO decision was much earlier, 2008. I have heard a 4.4 year estimate from Veterans for Common sense for a BVA appeal, and this sounds consistent with what I have experienced. The worst part is if it is remanded to the AMC. The AMC is a blac…

Does Anyone Know Why Its Longer For More Complex Claims?
I recently retired and submitted my BDD claim. There were multiple items claimed and from what I have read it will take longer to get my claim processed. As a matter of fact they estimate late Dec 2012 to April of 2013 and I filed and had my C & P exam in February but my retirement date was 01 May. I understand that it will take longer for my claim because there are more items and its more difficult, but do they take the easier claims and put them on top of the pile? Don't they process claims in the order in which they are received? If so this would mean all claims would take about the same amount of time. I am a patient man so I understand it will take time, just …

Lower Back; Help Please
This is my first post and I apologize if it's in the wrong area. I researched other peoples issues but I find mine to be a bit unique. I will do this chronologically and as summarized as possible: I left the U.S. Army Infantry in May of 2009, after serving since Jan 2006. I had not found any work but I was attending school (GI bill was coming in nice). When I received a recall packet (not unexpected at all) I dropped school happily to have my back checked out. Soon enough, they found the problem and released me. 9 Oct 2009 FINDINGS: There is bilateral spondylolysis at L5 with grade 1- spondylolisthesis of L5 on S1. IMPRESSION: 1. Bilateral spondylolysis at L5…

At A Loss
7 years ago I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I was 9 years out of service, however, there where 3 other men from my Team of 40 with the same afliction. One has since passed. I filed my claim in March of 07. It was denied 6 months later. I apealed and it was again denied. I filed suit in the court of veterans appeals and it was remanded with specific instructions to have me undergo another C&P exam. The BVA said that the "respectfully disagree" with the court order and simply denied the claim. However, they gave me specific reasons as to why the claim was denied. I filed suit again, and, again it was remanded. I have since submitted medical information t…

Glaucoma Treatment - Or Lack Thereof...
Last week I went back to the VA optometrist for more glaucoma tests. After the pressure test and "what flashing lights?" test, she showed me a read-out where there appeared to be dark spots around each of my eye's range of vision. She said "Now we have a base-line, we will check you again in four months and see if there is any progression. But looking at this, I'd say that you do have glaucoma." She did not ask about my medications. She did not talk about any kind of treatment or what progression might mean or even what glaucoma was. I was scared, had taken an Ativan to keep my eye open enough for the pressure test, and was too afraid/fuzzy to ask questions. …

Pow's Widow - Any Long-Term Healthcare?
I don't know if this is the right forum or if it's even the right question. My father-in-law was a WWII vet. Landed at Omaha (2nd landing), got captured and spent the rest of the war as a guest of the Third Reich. Tortured, starved, etc. The whole of Germany was starving by that point, I suppose. Anyway, he retired from the Army, and just before he died his Comp rating was increased to 100%. The death certificate said the right words and my mother-in-law receives DIC. Big kudos to the people at Newington, CT, VARO for putting a rush on everything for him and for her. Now my MIL is showing signs of dementia. Her doctor filled out a form (special to Newington, no…
