Hello, I have come to the end of the line and have to move out of my apartment at the end of the month. I have been paying rent with my credit card, but no more funds available. I have asked so many organizations for help, only to be told no, because I am not yet homeless. Strange, that you have to become homeless to receive help in California. So much for the Homeless Prevention Services. Anyway, does anyone know how I can get some help moving my belongings into a storage facility? I really cannot afford to pay a moving compayn, and I don't have a car to shuttle things back and forth. I have asked the VA, the County I live in, SSVF, HPRP, VASH, Women in Need...the list g…

April 2017 I was approved for the choice program for a surgery on my right shoulder. I was told to print out the lab history on my shoulder to show the surgeon. And expect a phone call within the next week for scheduling. Two weeks later, no phone call. I contacted them directly and spoke with a rep. I requested a specific doctor in my area who the VA doc recommended. The rep from the choice program said he put the request in and I should receive a phone call within the next couple of days. Two weeks later, no phone call back. I contact the choice program and they inform me they are still waiting. Approximately a week later, receive a phone call from the choice program. R…

I sent this news item to tbird already: Tbird, I'm just the messenger, but I heard something on the news this morning regarding a proposed home for homeless veterans, I believe near an existing large building near the Charlie Norwood VAMC in Augusta, GA. I can't find it yet on their website or in the local newspaper, the Augusta Chronicle, or the other affiliates yet. The "Uptown VA" in the following report is the Charlie Norwood VAMC in Augusta, Georgia, off of Wrightsboro Road. This short report doesn't go into whether the VA, itself, is behind the plan. From NBC Augusta, Channel 26, Morning News, April 21, 2010: "Last night Augusta commissioners put talks o…

My husband is in need of a criminal lawyer who helps veterans asap. He did something while ptsd symptoms were high and now needs criminal help. Before these charges were given we were working on getting him help with his ptsd, which I told him he should go get help as this will show he is trying to not make this mistake again. The VA referred me to VSO who could only refer for help with claims, not criminal. I've contacted my caregiver coordinator, social worker and the primary, with no answer. I need to get on this asap and I know there are lawyers who only work with veterans but have hit a dead end. Any help, is greatly appreciated!

On August 13, 2018, the president signed the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law. Although the NDAA is primarily a legislative vehicle for the Department of Defense (DoD), it contains several provisions that pertain to service disabled veterans and their families. Space-available travel on DoD aircraft for veterans with service-connected disabilities rated as permanent and total. Veterans who are service-connected permanent and total are eligible to fly on military aircraft, space permitting. This provision can be found under Section 624 of the NDAA Extension of certain morale, welfare, and recreation privileges to certain veterans and their…

Beginning July 14, 2010 the Kentucky Department of Parks will offer qualifying military veterans three free nights of accommodations per year at any Kentucky State Park lodge, cottage or campground. The state parks department worked with the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs to develop the implementation process for veterans who qualify as 100 percent totally and permanently disabled in connection with service-related incidents. State parks Commissioner Gerry van der Meer said the department is happy to provide this opportunity to this group of veterans who gave so much for their nation. “This is a small but nice way we can show our gratitude to these dedicat…
