tdiu Question Re: Fee For Non-S/c Surgery ...
I am at present, awaiting a decision for a proximately related S/C for a RT Hip. I am being told by EVERY doctor, that I require a THR. The problem is, that I cannot afford to pay surgical fees, hospital & medication, co pays, etc.. I DO have Medicare....no Medicaid. The questions: Do Veterans with a 30% (LT Hip) and 20% (Lumbar), have to pay for non service connected (RT) hip surgery? What is/are the fee(s) based on? Income? Total disability rating? Other? I am also pending a TDIU. A CUE claim retro 1976. Recently, I was informed that I have a worn polyethylene hip socket cup, thereby requiring surgery for my Lt. S/C hip..AGAI…

Bilateral Tinnitus
If I am raited for tinnitus is it automatically considered bilateral or do I need to file a request for it to be changed to bilateral? I was service connected for tinnitus back in 06. At the time the C&P examiner just asked if I had ringing in my ears. I said yes and took a standard audio exam for my hearing loss claim and sent me on. I was awarded 10% for the tinnitus.

Bilateral Factor Calculations.
Hello all. I have a question that I hope someone here can answer it. I am looking into the bilateral factor and I have not been able to find the anser. I have 0% for my bilateral ankles and I was reading that the bilateral goes for the legs together and the arms together and so on. If I have 3 problems with my left knee and 2 problems for my right knee all 5 are rated at 10% each and not rated as bilateral. My question is do the 5 problems get added into the bilateral factor calculations even with my ankles being at 0% or are they separate? My ankles are under review for an increase and I have already had a C&P. Thank you, Diver

Medical Condition Not Claimed Before Retirement
Hi and Happy New Year! Retired in 2006 and was awarded 60 percent in 2007. I am now 70 percent after being bumped up 10 percent for radicuopathy last month. I was looking at my active duty medical record and it occured to me that I was seen many times and diagnosed with Gastroenteritis. it obviously wasnt reviewed during my initial claim. Fast forward to retirement, i was seen several times at the VA for the gastro and even had a colonoscopy as a precaution. so my question is.. can i take all those treatment records from my AD days and file for gastroenteritis as presumptive for Gulf War ( also served in Iraq) OR even just file a claim? thanks....

Degenerative Dics Desease
I'll try to be brief with this explanation, my last post here looked more like a short story. The shorter story is that I've had a long time go around with the VA to get a proper diagnosis for knee and hip pain when I was in the Navy. I was discharged with a 10% service connected disability that the VA has matched. The problem is they never wanted to put a very good diagnosis to it; calling it polyarthralgia which is a very vauge diagnosis (simply means pain in one or more joints in the body) so it doesn't rate more than 10%. I'm seeing a private doctor to get a more proper diagnosis. So far we've found out that I have degenerative disc desease in my neck. The VA actually…

Hearing Loss And Tinnitus
I recently discovered a hearing loss in my left ear. It was an accut onset so I went to the doctor who gave me a hearing test. It was revealed that I have 70% loss in my left ear and 30% loss in my right ear. I also have tinnitus in my left ear. I talked to my Vet Rep and he advised that I should file a claim for a disability for it. He asked me what I did while in the service. I told him I was a Radioman in the submarine service. While on board we sent and received Morse code and monitored teletype signals while at sea. Sometimes the signal wasn't very good so the volume had to be turned way up. We stood 6 hr on and 12 hr off watches. We also experienced pressure differe…

Veterans Group Life Insurance (Vgli)
Can anybody tell me the year this program/insurance was created? I don't remember being offered this whenever I was discharged from the Army. Its a life insurance that allowance a service member to convert their SGLI to VGLI to keep their policy as long as the premiums are paid. On the VA's website it reads: Enrollment Period You have 1 year and 120 days from your date of separation to apply for VGLI. If you apply for coverage within 240 days of your date of separation, you will not need to answer health questions. Nowhere does it show when it was created. I am just wondering if it was created after I was discharged and if its offered retro to veterans. T…

Claiming Ibs Related To Burn Pits In Iraq
I'm new here so let me know if there's a better place for this. I'm curious what supporting documents I need to file a claim for my IBS. I believe it's service connected to my year I spent in Taji, Iraq from 2005-2006. I think it results from the use of burn pits. It started after my time in Iraq. I am familiar with the online va system and have a pending claim for other issues. My question is do I need to see my doctor now and if so, then what? He really can't prove when my IBS started. I had a PA suspect it was IBS back in 2007 but I don't know if it's actually in my records. The next time it was actually diagnosed with a colonoscopy was 2011. I struggle more …
