How long does it take to get a response regarding DIC
I've had such great help from so many of you. My husband finally got his 100% P&T for his heart. However, he didn't get it for long because he passed away. Cause of death Congestive heart failure So from what I have read, I should get DIC. I have the app completed, but do not as yet, have his death certificate so when I get it I will apply. I'm just wondering how long it takes to get approved (or denied) once you applty? Thanks so much.

Where do I start with this?
I've been tdiu for 8 years now (lower lumbar 20,right leg 10 pstd 70, bladder 30) I was undergoing surgery for a service connected issue on my spine. long story short, I had a stroke during the surgery and woke up incontinent, ED, headaches, high blood pressure. I've had to use catheters and pads for years now. I only found out a week ago that it was a stroke that caused these issues. The doctors had no clue what happened and where acting like it was some kind of medical mystery, even though i woke up paralyzed and bleeding internally. After that I was rushed back for emergency surgery. Because of some constant testicular pain my non VA neurologist did an MRI call…

Are family caregiver benefits compensation under the Mission Act taxable to the caregiver, or is it tax free?
In my research on the subject of family caregiver compensation, I have never been able to determine if the caregiver stipend is taxable.

Anybody filed for the new caregiver expansion for pre 911 vets to include vietnam era vets?
If you have filed for the new caregiver expansion under the Mission act, what is your progress? Availability to the older generation of vets became available October 1, 2020 I filed on or about October 1st. So far my caregiver wife, and I, have had one telephone interview by a VA caregiver agent and a video conference with a VA RN. Both interviews were to determine to what extent do we qualify for the benefit. I think that the interviews went very well. We were told that a decision would be forthcoming in six to eight weeks. There are multiple benefits to the caregiver in the program including but not limited to compensation, medical insurance through CHAMPVA, e…

Audiometric testing for tinnitus scheduled with new company
I have submitted at least two Service Connected Disability claims to the Veterans Administration (VA) for hearing loss, beginning with my initial request in December 4, 2009. Each test was conducted by a company called QTC. Each test was conducted by an evaluator that ran each test at least three times. My last QTC evaluator swapped headsets three times, then told me she would be increasing the volume of the audio "so I could hear better". She also stated that she had to report higher scores. Both QTC exams were "normal", rendering 0% compensation. My hearing tests at three outside ENT facilities stated "Moderate to Severe hearing loss". How many times is an evaluator re…

Ch. 35 Question
Hello Hadit. I am not sure where to post this question....but here goes. I was recently awarded TDIU P & T back to January 2017. My daughter is One semester away from graduating from college. She has been in school since 2015. Is it possible for her to get some of her student load debt paid based on Chapter 35 benefits? If so, what steps should we take to get this process started? Thank you for any help!

IU permanent & total disability
I'm a Nam vet. Recently awarded 90% IU permanent & total disability. After 10 yrs of BS. My friends tell me to leave it alone make no more claims, others tell me to continue with claims until 100% I live in Florida. Because I`m not 100% the DMV denied me disable tags and the property tax dept. gave me credit for my 90% but not for the P&T. Yes, I`m getting paid for !00%. but it seems I`m leaving cards on the table. What say you brothers & sisters.... thanks from uniformpapa7

Forearm Hernia Claim?
Hello, I was hoping to get a second opinion on a potential claim. While in service I had a radical tenosynovectomy which is service connected. I am also service connected for the scar from said surgery. That surgery caused a hernia on my forearm. The size of muscle coming through is about 2.5 inches long by about 1 inch wide. I was wondering if this should be a pretty straight forward claim or what I might need to consider or prepare for? I believe this claim would fall under 38 CFR § 4.73, Schedule of Ratings – Muscle Injuries, Diagnostic Code 5326. Seems pretty straight forward to me but again it's the VA and there always seems t…

Denied Claim Submission
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, but I have email chains with a veterans claim representative where they refused to SUBMIT my claim because they said it would not be something I could claim. I ended up submitting my claim myself, then submitting to higher level review and it looks like my claim is getting approved. If I had not been tenacious and listened to the VA rep that wouldn't even submit my claim, I'd be out thousands in backpay and a rating. Has anyone experienced having the VA refuse to file the claim? I started thinking about how many vets this could have happened to...shut down before they even submit!

Meniere's - A Better claim as primary or secondary?
I was just diagnosed with Meniere's after years of having periodic dizziness and vertigo that has gotten progressively worse and more frequent. I am already service connected for bilateral hearing loss and tinnitus. (Ironically I had never even heard of Meniere's until about a year ago when I was doing the exams to get the service connection for the tinnitus and when I mentioned the dizziness to the audiologist she said I should have more testing to see if it was Meniere's). My question is when I file the claim, should I file it as primary, secondary to the hearing loss and tinnitus, or both?
