Claim Approved In 1996 But Va Couldn't Find Me
Hello fellow Veterans. I am new to this site and new to the process as a whole. I was in the USMC from 89-94 and was discharged with a 10% disability rating. I filed a claim upon discharge and just found out I was approved in 1996 but the VA could not find me as my address had changed. They apparantly had been sending checks until 2002 when they stopped due to th being sent back. I literally have lived within 5 miles of this location since my claim approval so I am stumped how hard it would have been to find me but nonetheless, I corrected my address information and my local VA rep took my direct deposit information and requested my case be reopened (claim already approv…

Should I Pursue These "disabilities" Or Not?
Basically I have had chronic knee and back pain for 8 years. Never went to medical in the Marines or to a civilian doctor either until today. His diagnosis: runner's knee and mobility issues (meaning I should stretch more) Some days the pain is worse than on others, but half the time I'd describe it as severe, so his weak diagnosis was quite shocking to me. Anyway, what do you guys think? Worth the time and effort or suck it up like I've been brainwashed to.

Torn Rotator Cuff -Surgery Needed Some Questions
I have torn rotator cuff and it needs surgery. The injury while I was on duty and have a LOD on record. The injury happened to my dominate arm. I have not had surgery but right now I cant lift anything and hurt to hold up, barely move up to the side. What % should I look for when filing since it is my dominate arm? (literally as of right now I cant talk on a cell phone with that hand without pain) 2. Since I cant use my dominate arm my left arm is doing all the work. Now the left arm is hurting from all the extra work the right arm cant do. Should I file this as well? I mentioned to my doctor but I will make sure i get it in writing as well.

Aortic Aneurysm
My father had a Aortic aneurysm repaired in 2005. I was reading the Schedule for rating disabiliies and it says A rating of 100 percent shall be assigned as of the date of admission for surgical correction. Six months following discharge, the appropriate disability rating shall be determined by mandatory VA examination. He never got any compensation for the surgery. He called the VA and they said that he can put in a claim as far back as he wants. My question is Aortic aneurysm service connected? Does it matter? Thanks.

Service Connected Vs Pension
Hello everyone and thank you for reading my topic. I have a question and I have been seeking legal advice on it as well. I was discharged from the Navy back in 2005 with a "personality disorder". I had been going to the psychologist on base in Pearl Harbor about grief and anxiety issue steming from the loss of several friends and family. What happened was my grandfather, my uncle, my aunt and 2 cousins as well as my father had all died in the range of 1 month. So they put me on limited duty and eventually discharged me. I had never been in trouble before that, during that time nor afterwards. I had been a stand up sailor and only wanted to serve my country as well as p…

diabetes Heatstroke
After 3 years and 2 months in the Marine Corps I had a heatstroke while on a battalion run. I spent 5 days in ICU. I was told I had a heat intolerance and therefore discharged from the Marines shortly after. That was back in 1993, since then I have been diagnosed with diabetes, have heart problems, and this week was told I have skin cancer. Are there any chances of getting a service connected disability from my heatstroke?

Help! Bipolar Claim Denied Solely On Genetics
My C&P doctor gave me a gaf of 53, but he denied service connection and his only reasoning was that bipolar disorder is a genetic condition. This makes no sense since many vets are receiving benefits for this illness. I was chaptered out of the Army with a personality disorder, but I have since been diagnosed with bipolar by 3 different doctors, including the C&P doctor who acknowledges in the report that the Army doctor had diagnosed "personality disorder", He then concurred with the bipolar diagnosis and stated that no other mental illness exists. How can they deny me based solely on this doctor's opinion that bipolar disorder is genetic? I need to find a vet fr…

Denied On Depression.
Just got off the phone with my DAV POA, in which he informed me I was denied. He explained they looked at it as a single traumatic event or diagnoses from the military, not as a secondary to my TBI, in which my mental health practitioner clearly stated and which I have 45 pages of supporting evidence stating exactly that. The rep from the DAV told me it was written up wrong. He is talking with the rater as we speak to change it. I'm pretty upset.

Chiropractor Opinion In Addition To Fdc Claim
Went today and received the chiropractor opinion relating to secondary conditions. She stated that it is more than likely than not that my back condition(lumbago) is due to flat feet and she goes on to say how flat feet causes body joints to be misaligned and pain to travel through joints such as knees(Pes anserinus bursitis).I had a orthopedic doctor state whether it was more than likely than not the same as she stated and he wrote it up as well. Is this good enough to go forward with claim? Also Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction was diagnosed. Could I do a FDC if I have everything I need as far as evidence? And could I tell them to rate based on evidence I submit inst…
