Myotonic Dystrophy 19 Months After Discharge
Hello all, I am a retired USAF Major with 90% service connected disability. My younger brother was involuntarily discharged in Dec 2008 due to several minor infractions (sleep disorder, cognitive issues, hands locking up, not following technical order manuals). He received two Article 15s in his first 5 years (on a 6 year inital enlistment). He was also Command-Directed twice to undergo psych review. His discharge was GENERAL with HONORABLE CONDITIONS. The Air Force put him out with 3-days notice....full out-processing then escorted him to the gate with a one-way bus ticket home. He had no where to go....so I took him in. He's been with me and my family ever since…

Eligible For Gwi?
I've been diagnosed and rated for IBS at 30%. I've been diagnosed with GERD which has caused severe inflammation of my esophagus, stomach, duodenum and some in my colon. I've recently been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and sleep apnea for which I now wear a CPAP. I haven't been able to work due to the fatigue, anxiety and IBS. Is it possible that I can claim these other conditions (other than IBS) as due to my service in Desert Storm? I've actually been ICD9'd as having service in the Persian Gulf. But I show none of these conditions in my SMR's. I would greatly appreciate a response! All of the VSO's, to include their supervisor,…

Other Than Honorable
So i was involved with a girl and she had gotten in a fight with another girl at a bar one night and got injured. Sparring the long details of the story she had to go to the ER and her command found out and i was accused of hitting her even though she said i didn't. a week later i had broken up with her because it was getting involved with my command and she was angry about it. 5 days later my command started to investigate me for article 128 assault and the investigation was completed and the CO decided to charge me with article 128, article 134 and the article for UA since the notified the police and i was arrested the night she started to say i hit her. None of this is…

Dm Ii Neuropathy With Neurologic Complication
I am being treated at the VA for neuropathy of both feet and all toes. I went to a private Pod today because the VA in STL could not use their cutting tools yet because of being closed down for all medical procedures requiring any type of minor/major surgeries or anything that was done that they had to use a so called surgical tool i.e. clipping of toe nails and cutting off of calluses. Im sure you all have read or seen the stories on TV about this!! Anyway, I just could not wait any longer because of the pain in my feet was really getting intolerable so I went to a private POD. This was her diagnosis: My Neuropathy is caused by my DM. " DM II neuropathy with neurol…

Va Life Insurance Sdvi
The SVR show tonight was a good one. If you have a new service connected disability you can apply for SDVI. If you are totally disabled, then you can also apply for a waiver of premium. The base policy is 10K. You can also apply for the supplamental insurance of 20K ( Current) that will increase to 30K in Oct 11. That is 40 K for not much money. You should listen to this show archive. It was a good one. JBasser

P And T
I was awarded 100% howevr I am not considered P and T, I will try and get it. On friday night my next door neighbor house caught on fire and I had to go in and rescue her and try and put the fire out. In doing so I suffered some smoke inhalation and my anxiety and depression symptoms have gotten worse do to this experience. I will be quiting my job on monday because I think I will be a disruption to my co-workers and I feel I cannot be as productive as I should. Also because of this experience my lower back pain has gotten worse to the point I cannot affectivlely move around at the same pace as before. Do you think this is a good idea or what? V/r

ptsd Any Hope?
My doctor referred me to a sleep specialist concerning OSA. This specialist threats VA patients part time. He scheduled me a sleep study thru a private hospital. My PTSD doctor was able to get me a sleep study thru the VA. That sleep study came back positive for severe OSA. I filed a claim for service connection. I was hoping to get a IMO from ]the sleep specialist that my doctor referred me too, but he is now saying that I had to have OSA prior to my deployment to Iraq. I asked him "is there anyway that this could NOT have been caused by my deployment; and he told me "it's hard to prove your deployment caused this". I have nothing in SMR's only a redeployment c…
