I've Got A Bad Feeling About This....
Something a little different seems to have happened to my claim, and wondering if anyone has any experience to help me know what to expect. I've got a request for reconsideration claim in the system. It's been hanging fire for quite a while, and went so long that I had to submit a NOD to keep the original claim I asked to be reconsidered alive. Months and months have gone by and now there appears to be movement on the claim. On Friday, I got an IRIS response to my question about whether or not my NOD was in processing which basically said, "wait, out." On Monday (yesterday), eBenefits showed my claim having jumped back from "prep for decision" to "gatheri…

Closed Claim Without Addressing The Problem?
I joined in 1997 had a subsequent 10 years of shoulder pain after an injury that occurred at my first base. Upon separation, I filed and recieved 10% rating for shoulder impingement and bicep tendonitis. After several visits to the satellite clinic regarding continued shoulder pain, I was finally referred to West Los Angeles where I FINALLY received an MRI looking for the problem. It turned out I had a torn rotator and torn labrum (among other damage). Service connected surgery was scheduled for June of 2013, and I immediately re-opened my claim for increase with this newfound information. After the surgery, I received my temp 100%, and went to my follow-up ap…

What Does This Mean?
I am sifting through all my progress notes finding some anomalies which are going to help on my appeals. Back in 2011 I had a Coronary CTA examination on my heart and I guess the arteries and such. All that was clear and fine but the radiologist noted something that is kind of bothering me about my thoracic spine: It reads "There are is subchondral areas of sclerosis involving mid vertebral body endplates." Then on the findings it reads "Endplate sclerosis involving mid thoracic vertebral bodies likely degenerative however if there is underlying malignancy or clinical concern bone scan imaging may be helpful." Please do not tell me this is the same as MS or A…

Denied For Joint And Muscle Pain
Hello and thanks for any help and insight you may give. I was recently denied for joint and muscle pain. The VA gave the following information: Service connection for muscle and joint pain is denied because this disability is determined to result from a fall with subsequent deconditioning, which neither occurred in nor was aggravated by service. In Desert Storm, I fell off of a tractor and trailer loaded with rockets. I was treated at a field hospital and was placed on 2 weeks bed rest. I submitted Statement in Support of Claim from my Platoon Sgt., Asst. Plt. Sgt., and several other soldiers including myself detailing the incident to the VA in 2010 when I mistake…

Help On Southwest Asia Question

VSR: Tell the Veteran, "The "Persian Gulf War Veterans' Benefits Act" authorizes VA to compensate any Gulf veteran suffering from a "qualifying chronic disability," resulting from an undiagnosed illness or combination of undiagnosed illnesses, appearing either during active duty in the Southwest Asia theater of operations during the Gulf War, or to a degree of 10 percent or more within a presumptive period following service in the theater. Question About Southwest Asia Presumptive
Well about 3 years ago I was diagnosed with ibs from the VA and private doctor. I was denied due to nothing on my dd-214 saying southwest Asia. Well after further attempts to get my dd-214 corrected, I was successful yesterday through the mail when I received a dd-215 with southwest Asia, and armed forces expeditionary medal. So my question could I go back to when I was first denied in order to get connected? I'm thinking since they didn't have the southwest Asia medal, I could go back for a possible cue. Seeing that the dd-215 could be used in a way to say it was like having it on my dd-214 but having to get it corrected. Any advice?
