IMO Independent Medical Opinion
Guidelines
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
- No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
- No vulgar language
- No offensive verbal assaults
- No sexual connotations
- No personal attacks
- No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
- No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.
Please take a minute to read through this it will explain how to make posts that will get you answers.
Note: Your firsts posts on the board may be delayed before they show up, as they are reviewed, this process does not take long and the review requirement will be removed usually by the 6th post, though we reserve the right to keep anyone on moderator preview. This process allows us to remove spam and other junk posts before they hit the board. We want to keep the focus on VA Claims and this helps us do that.
I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.
Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.
Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.
I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.
Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
Leading to:
3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.
Example is:
A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?
I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
Do Not Argue With The Moderators. If a moderator tells you to stop doing something then stop, if you are unable to stop yourself, your account will be deleted. Moderators are in place to keep the forum running smoothly, what they say goes.

Everyone won't agree on many things, but the one thing we should agree on is that we are here so that no brother or sister veteran gets left behind, not on a jungle trail, not on a desert trail and not on a paper trail." Tbird
The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.
Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary.
There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.
New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.
HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. These are aimed at maintaining harmony on the Web Forum.. When one person disrupts many then we feel it's time to take action.
Remember that most that come to our discussion forum have been wounded in one way or another. Be kind to each other, if angered take a day to respond. Personal attacks are not what we are about; we are about helping our brother and sister veterans.

Opinion on IMO
Hadit family, I would like your opinion/advice from my letter that my doc had wrote for me. Dear Sir or Madam: I have reviewed blank service records and medical history. His DD 214 documents he served in the Army from September xxxx through December xxxx. His signed July xxxx enlistment exam is negative for any medical conditions. Mr. Blank suffers from lumbar degenerative changes and lateral recess stenosis, cervical spondylosis and foraminal stenosis, bilateral knee osteoarthritis, bilateral patellofemoral syndrome and left knee meniscal tear, erectile dysfunction, and migraine headaches among other conditions. Service treatment records do…

Attorney Wants Diagnosis for Secondary Complication to Rated Condition; Must it be through VA?
Originally, this secondary condition was claimed as 'migraines,' but while it may begin as a migraine with a complication, the VA can--and has, more than once--made it so much worse (pain-wise). If it does not qualify as a migraine, then my attorney and I need to come up with a different diagnosis. It's definitely a neurological issue, possibly 'occipital neuralgia,' as the condition meets the criteria of its definition, here: https://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/occipital+neuralgia. Yes, VHA has been my provider, but they have also been the ones triggering my secondary condition; and once they bring on the extra pain, they IGNORE the cause and focus sole…

Need a competent Neurosurgeon for IMO & Medical 2 English Med Records/imaging Translation in Clarksville, TN!!
First, to all who recommend I get a VA lawyer, THANK YOU!! It made all the difference in the world. One of my recurring medical 'issues' stemming from my military service, triggered by an intentionally botched ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) surgery (performed at David Grant Medical Center at Travis AFB in CA) where my C6-C7 cervical disc ruptured, and one of its pieces fell through my spinal cord fluid and landed on the upper nerve to my right arm, causing nerve pain (the reason for the emergency ACDF). The surgery occurred in June 1995, but the Neurosurgeon who was 'brought in' to perform the surgery verbally communicated to me just prior to that sur…

Nexus letter
I am needing to find a Dr to give me a nexus letter. I live in Troy, Mo. I got out of the service in 1988 and am sc for my knee. This injury happened when I fell out of a helicopter and twisted my knee. I blacked out when I hit the flight line and when I regained consciousness I was in extreme pain in my knee. It was doubled up under me. At this time nothing else hurt and over the years I have suffered from back pain. I have since found out I have disc compress and arthritis in my spine in multiple places. I have had to have two nerve blocks due to the arthritis in my spine pushing on my spinal cord. I am needing to find a Dr to give me a nexus letter for this. Does…

PTSD/OSA Sleep Apnea success
In spite of misleading advice on another veterans benefits forum of present and former VA raters I was just granted 50% SC for OSA Sleep Apnea with CPAP secondary to and due to my long term Nam PTSD and long term use of PTSD medications. Although only overweight by about 30 lbs for many years the VA examiner said this was reason for my OSA. I stopped smoking over 20 years ago. The VARO of course denied my extensive list of favorable evidence including Army medical records in Vietnam and Japan revealing my OSA symptoms of snoring, gasping, insomnia, etc. with prescribed valium and Seconal for sleep and also VA medical records showing long term use of powerful PTSD medi…
