IMO Independent Medical Opinion
Guidelines
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
- No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
- No vulgar language
- No offensive verbal assaults
- No sexual connotations
- No personal attacks
- No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
- No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.
Please take a minute to read through this it will explain how to make posts that will get you answers.
Note: Your firsts posts on the board may be delayed before they show up, as they are reviewed, this process does not take long and the review requirement will be removed usually by the 6th post, though we reserve the right to keep anyone on moderator preview. This process allows us to remove spam and other junk posts before they hit the board. We want to keep the focus on VA Claims and this helps us do that.
I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.
Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.
Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.
I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.
Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
Leading to:
3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.
Example is:
A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?
I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
Do Not Argue With The Moderators. If a moderator tells you to stop doing something then stop, if you are unable to stop yourself, your account will be deleted. Moderators are in place to keep the forum running smoothly, what they say goes.

Everyone won't agree on many things, but the one thing we should agree on is that we are here so that no brother or sister veteran gets left behind, not on a jungle trail, not on a desert trail and not on a paper trail." Tbird
The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.
Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary.
There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.
New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.
HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. These are aimed at maintaining harmony on the Web Forum.. When one person disrupts many then we feel it's time to take action.
Remember that most that come to our discussion forum have been wounded in one way or another. Be kind to each other, if angered take a day to respond. Personal attacks are not what we are about; we are about helping our brother and sister veterans.

diabetes Brian W. Case, Md, Ms, Cime Opinions
I am thinking about hiring for IME for SSD and VA benefits. I do not and could not find out much information on the internet. His web site states he has done 2000 IME's. And, he stated cost would be about 700 too 900. He also stated that I would get a refund if I was denied my claim for VA. Thats pretty much it as far as our phone conversation goes. I am claiming low back pain(lumbar spinal stenosis), IBS/GERD, and various mental issues (PTSD/Depression/Anxiety) for VA and with Diabetes for SSD. I know some of those will be grouped togather. I am asking him to put togather my case (this is assuming he agrees with my claims), that puts all issues togather for a…

Does The Va Ever Consider An Imo Letter To Be Outdated?
Does the VA ever consider an IMO letter submitted by a claimant to be outdated or expired after a certain period of time? Since it is not unusual for the VARO to take months and sometimes years to process a claim, IMO letters submitted by claimants may end up being months or years old by the time the IMO letter is reviewed and considered by the VARO. Would a VARO ever require a claimant to go back to their private doctor who prepared the original IMO letter and obtain another IMO letter with a more recent date even when the reason the IMO letter has become outdated is because the VARO was slow in processing their claim? Thanks...Georgiapapa

Where To Get An Imo In Columbia, Sc?
i have to ask if there is anyone that could point me to someone that could give me an IMO in columbia,sc? I called the DAV tuesday of last week (01-17-12). the DAV rep told me that my claim was pushed back to the "gathering evidence stage" and that it would help me out tremendously to get an IMO statement. the only issue with this is that i don't know where to go to get one, how long it will take, or what the cost will be. the DAV rep told me to get this done asap (within the next 30 days) because she wasn't sure of how fast my case would be forwarded and if i don't have the IMO, it would only hurt my case. can someone please advise me on how to go about thihs…

ptsd Doctors
I am in the process with VA claims, I am currently at the stage where they are still gathering information. I have been at this for 10 months and realize I have allot of time yet. But, I am also at the SSD stage for court and I am about six months out from my court date according to my lawyer. I have been looking for doctors in Indianapolis on the south side that is familiar with the VA claim language (CFR) that I could possiably see too confirm that I still have issues (documented) from the military dating back to 1987. I have nothing documented since my seperation from service, and there is documentation on most of my issues but it is limited. So basically I…

Greetings fellow veterans. I am a board-certified occupational medicine physician, and I have developed a new website for veterans of the conflicts in Southwest Asia (1990-present) to go for the latest information about diagnosis, treatment and disability claims for injuries and illnesses arising from their service. I spent 22 years as a Medical Officer in the Navy, with active and reserve service, and I am a former VA C&P examiner. I am now in private practice, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses, and I perform disability examinations on a regular basis. Imo-Psychologist Or Psychiatrist
Which is better for mental health IMO? I may never file for P and T, but I am going to start lining the ducks up, and, as such, I would like an IMO to make an accurate diagnosis of my service connected mental disorder, instead of the blanket adjustment disorder with depressed mood that has been placed upon me. And, does anyone know of a good one in Southern Ohio? That doesn't cost a fortune.

Correct Imo Letter Or Leave It As It Is?
Hi, I currently have smoldering multiple myeloma. I am a "boots on the ground" Vietnam veteran so I know my multiple myeloma is one of the presumtive diseases caused by agent orange. This message is in regards to a condition which I wish to claim as secondary to multiple myeloma. I also have neuropathy in my lower extremities and my right upper extremity which has increased. As a result, I went to an orthopaedic doctor who conducted MRIs, x-rays, EMG studies, and a CT myelogram of my spine. My EMG study revealed I had "severe , axonal and demyelinating, tibial neuropathy in my right and left lower extremities." The EMG study also revealed I had "moderate, demyeli…

OK... VA is about to decide on IU, all I needed to send them was the VCAA and copies of the SSDI Award and medical reports. I had two assessments with the Disability Determination Service, one physical (spent about 10 minutes with a doc... tuning fork, and rubber mallet were his instruments, he gave me the "once over", had me touch my toes and stuff), his report basically states nothing is wrong with me and I can work, despite everything the VA and Primary Care Physician has on file confirming my physical condition from TBI. The other assessment was cognitive, very thorough... diagnosis in short was Chronic PTSD with a poor prognosis, something I've never been asses…

My Imo Letter
Attached is my letter I got from my doc. I will use it to: * Try to SC my headaches and vertigo. My initial claim for vertigo was denied, as they only looked at an old case of inner ear infection that resolved. Hopefully this will get them to take a better look. I will claim both of these secondary to the DDD that they SC at 10%. Should I file a new claim for the vertigo, since they denied the 1st one for an entirely different casue? * I will also ask for an increase of the left shoulder that they SC at 0%. Any tips on what to say on my form to support my claim? Thanks for your time, George VA Letter 2 black.pdf
