IMO Independent Medical Opinion

Guidelines

Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.

  • No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
  • No vulgar language
  • No offensive verbal assaults
  • No sexual connotations
  • No personal attacks
  • No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
  • No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.

I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.

Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.

1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.

Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.

I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.

Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.

Example is:

A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?

I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?

I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.

Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary. 

There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.

New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.

  1. Nexus Letter Of "as Likely As Not" From Expert...

    A week after an emergency appendectomy, I suffered a nearly fatal case of bilateral deep venous thrombosis (DVT, or blood clots in legs) that caused bilateral pulmonary emboli (PE, or blood clots in lungs). I spent most of a week in ICU for this. They inserted a permanent inferior vena cava filter (IVC is large vein below heart), and I'm on anticoagulant Coumadin therapy, probably for life.   4. Definition Of An Imo?

    I feel like I am asking a stupid question, but I've heard there is no such thing as a stupid question, only a stupid answer. My understanding is that an IMO is an (Independent Medical Opinion). If, this is true, I dont understand why you would have to pay 2 to 3k for an expert witness. It seems that you could just go to a clinical pyhsc. for a half dozen visits and get an IMO. I got one from my private physician and did not cost me anything. What I am saying is if you have an HMO, you can go to a specialist in this field, for thirty dolars a visit. That would be about 180.00 or so. Am I in left field or what, on this. :D

  5. Nexus Letter?

    Hello to all, My private Podiatrist is willing to write a nexus statement/letter for my ankle. I've searched hadit and I am unable to locate a sample letter. I used the sample provided here for an IMO for another condition but I need the sample nexus letter for Tuesday's appointment.   7. Health Insurance Vs Filing A Claim

    Im looking for some advice, I am 22 and getting an honorable discharge after 4 years in the army and one deployment. I saw my PA to get a phase 2 physical today and he was strongly against me filing for compensation. He argued that it will not do any good to have a seperation physical that would not diagnose (or say i didnt have at all) some of the things i am filing with the va. Also he suggested that I do not file anything at all because if the va does not rate me for comp for my issues then I will have to list what i filed for as pre-existing medical conditions when i get medical insurance and it will make my rates skyrocket.   12. Imo For Unemployability

    As far as an IMO for unemployability what are some key statements the doctor needs to make to increase the chances of an award? I imagine many private doctors don't know how the VA works so they don't know the necessary statements the VA requires to grant unemployability.   13. Need Help/advice

    Can anyone offer any advice on using the DAV to get my claim approved? I have been working with them here in San Antonio but, it seems like we are getting no where. I have PTSD, Diabetes, Severe Back Pain and arthritis and loss of hearing and ringing in both ears, right knee locks up occassionally, and severe bouts of depression due to my conditions and lack of a quality life at times.
