IMO Independent Medical Opinion
Guidelines
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
- No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
- No vulgar language
- No offensive verbal assaults
- No sexual connotations
- No personal attacks
- No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
- No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.
Please take a minute to read through this it will explain how to make posts that will get you answers.
Note: Your firsts posts on the board may be delayed before they show up, as they are reviewed, this process does not take long and the review requirement will be removed usually by the 6th post, though we reserve the right to keep anyone on moderator preview. This process allows us to remove spam and other junk posts before they hit the board. We want to keep the focus on VA Claims and this helps us do that.
I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.
Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.
Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.
I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.
Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
Leading to:
3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.
Example is:
A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?
I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
Do Not Argue With The Moderators. If a moderator tells you to stop doing something then stop, if you are unable to stop yourself, your account will be deleted. Moderators are in place to keep the forum running smoothly, what they say goes.

Everyone won't agree on many things, but the one thing we should agree on is that we are here so that no brother or sister veteran gets left behind, not on a jungle trail, not on a desert trail and not on a paper trail." Tbird
The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.
Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary.
There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.
New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.
HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. These are aimed at maintaining harmony on the Web Forum.. When one person disrupts many then we feel it's time to take action.
Remember that most that come to our discussion forum have been wounded in one way or another. Be kind to each other, if angered take a day to respond. Personal attacks are not what we are about; we are about helping our brother and sister veterans.

Within A Reasonable Degree Medical Certainty
When a Psychiatrist says "Within a reasonable degree medical certainty" are they saying 50/50 or are they saying more likey a 100%. How is it taken by VA. When read it appears like strong language. My IME had this in the doctors final words and I don't know exactly know what to make of it. From what I've read it seems to be in a grey area. Does anyone have some experience in this area? Thanks

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Secondary To Sinusitis
Hello Vets and Vet supporters, I have the subjected claim currently in the final stages of completion. I received an increase for my sinusitis and allergic rhinitis service connections recently and the C and P examiner opinned: "Veteran also suffers from Obstructive Sleep Apnea. His Service Connected Allergic Rhinitis /Chronic Sinusitis probably contributes or aggravates this. My question to the group is whether you feel that statement can be considered a Nexus for a connection between the two? I had an ACE C and P for the subjected claim but the examiner did not provide an opinion. I am confused as to why an opinion was not provided. With that being said, do you th…

Possible To Have Private Dr Do Ime/imo?
Hello Everyone, I had wanted to know if anyone has successfully had their own private Dr do an IME or IMO? My father's Neurologist has experience with the VA. He was a Neuro there for sometime. We have to go back this week for the results of my Father's EMG. But he is also seeing my Dad for Parkinson's. I have been scouring over my Dad's medical records. I have found many issues within them. I had another post in one of the other forums which explains it all. My Dad is requesting the records from VAMC since he was first evaluated for Agent Orange exposure. I wanted to ask the Dr if he would do an IME/or IMO since he has experience in this field, also with the…

ptsd Imo Questions
I feel kind of weird to just contact a doctor and say examine me and fill this out.... Do i got in for a exam and then contact them after with the DBQ? In the DBQ it says things like have you reviewed the Veterans file, what do i bring to them? For the podiatrist I was going to bring my initial entrance exam to show no indication of flat feet and neurologist i was going to bring headache diary as well as as evidence from my file of my exposure to explosions as well as PTSD info. Also Do i just hand them a paper from earlier posts noting that the VA wants to hear words like "more likely than not" etc?

The Va Is Has Stoped Me From Getting An Imo
hi all after all these years , i thought i had the va just where i wanted, wrong in my first claim in 1985 i filed for a back condition. they denied because they said it was a defect ( congenital transitional vertebra ) and by va law could not be service connected. fast foward to nov.6th 2014 , after several reopenings and remands ,i get another denial for the same reasion. ( congenital transitional vertebra ) is not connectible. well i went to get a ime , and he said it would be a waist of time and money, if its not premitted by law. he reviewed my x-rays and said i had a minor congenital problem . so what do you think , i thought tha…
