IMO Independent Medical Opinion
Guidelines
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
- No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
- No vulgar language
- No offensive verbal assaults
- No sexual connotations
- No personal attacks
- No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
- No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.
Please take a minute to read through this it will explain how to make posts that will get you answers.
Note: Your firsts posts on the board may be delayed before they show up, as they are reviewed, this process does not take long and the review requirement will be removed usually by the 6th post, though we reserve the right to keep anyone on moderator preview. This process allows us to remove spam and other junk posts before they hit the board. We want to keep the focus on VA Claims and this helps us do that.
I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.
Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.
Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.
I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.
Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
Leading to:
3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.
Example is:
A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?
I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
Do Not Argue With The Moderators. If a moderator tells you to stop doing something then stop, if you are unable to stop yourself, your account will be deleted. Moderators are in place to keep the forum running smoothly, what they say goes.

Everyone won't agree on many things, but the one thing we should agree on is that we are here so that no brother or sister veteran gets left behind, not on a jungle trail, not on a desert trail and not on a paper trail." Tbird
The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.
Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary.
There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.
New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.
HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. These are aimed at maintaining harmony on the Web Forum.. When one person disrupts many then we feel it's time to take action.
Remember that most that come to our discussion forum have been wounded in one way or another. Be kind to each other, if angered take a day to respond. Personal attacks are not what we are about; we are about helping our brother and sister veterans.

Imo For Competatncy Issue
Hello follow veterans. Your continued support has been a blessing The Va is proposing incompetence and I have a couple of weeks to send them NOD along with supporting documents. Someone already mentioned that having IMO is very important. I am searching for a psychiatrist in my area. I not sure what I need to tell them. Do I need to get a full evaluation? which I think will cost a fortune and I don't have that kind of money to begin with. Does anyone went trough this process? How much does it cost? Is there a specific way to write their opinion to the VA or just a simple letter stating that I am competent or incompetent? Do I need to take my medical document with me?…

Imo Spine Doc In Michigan Or Wisconsin
I am having an issue finding a doc to write and IMO about my spine. What I am trying to get is a letter from a doc saying that my headaches and neck (cervical spine) are connected to my back issues. In my opinion it is pretty common sense, but the VA has some pretty off thinking. My primary care provider won't write one. My Chiro will, but I was told that a chiropractor is not held to a very high regard. Thanks

Must Private Imo Be Authorized By Va
Can someone let me know if a Private Physician Independent Medical Opinion must first be authorized by VA . I am under the understdning that only VA can schedule an Indepenent medical examination. My understanding is that if a private physician conducts an idependent medical examination, if a request to conduct the IMO is not authorized by VA prior to submission of the private IMO, that while it will be admissable, the private IMO will not carry any probative weight.

Anyone Use Medical Opinions Assoc For A Imo
I talked with Arthur Fine at Medical Opinions Associates today. They will charge me $1900 for a doctor to take a look at my service records and write up a IMO. I don't know if the doctor that they provide will give me a decision that will be in my favor or not. Guess I will just have to take that chance. I was wondering if anyone has used them before and what they thought of them. Thanks for any help. Brian

Va Primary Physician C&p Exam
Can or has anybody done this...Ask your Primary Care Physician for an IMO. Also, has anyone had there Primary care Physician fill out C&P worksheet? I have had the same Dr. since 2005 (my first visit with the VA) so I would think he would know better than a physicians assistant that doesn't speak english. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Ok, I realize that some of this question should have been posted in C&P exam, apologies.

Getting An Independent
Independent Medical Opinions can often be the only way a veteran or widow can succeed on a VA claim. Opinions obtained from private treating doctors are often free yet most independent medical opinions are needed from doctors with full expertise in the field of the disability can be very costly. However an award can easily absorb this cost with a few comp checks or the increases in comp that the claimant might never obtain without an IMO. A Valid IMO must contain the following: The doctor must have all medical records available and refer to them directly in the opinion. In cases involving an in-service nexus- the doctor needs to read an…

Good Question For Imo
Ok IMO experts, sharpen up your nails cause I need an answer that is no where to be found!!! When writing up an IMO for an existing SC disability that has worsened in time, and your C&P examiner states that you can only do sedentary work, where/what is the starting point of the phase of the worsening when you begin explaining the Subjective & Objective scenario's. Another words, since the disability has already been established SC, do you begin at the beginning when you injured yourself, or since the last surgery of the injury, or does it start with the C&P exam stating sedentary work only. I just don't want to add alot of history that isn't going to mak…
