IMO Independent Medical Opinion
Guidelines
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
- No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
- No vulgar language
- No offensive verbal assaults
- No sexual connotations
- No personal attacks
- No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
- No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.
Please take a minute to read through this it will explain how to make posts that will get you answers.
Note: Your firsts posts on the board may be delayed before they show up, as they are reviewed, this process does not take long and the review requirement will be removed usually by the 6th post, though we reserve the right to keep anyone on moderator preview. This process allows us to remove spam and other junk posts before they hit the board. We want to keep the focus on VA Claims and this helps us do that.
I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.
Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.
Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.
I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.
Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
Leading to:
3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.
Example is:
A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?
I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
Do Not Argue With The Moderators. If a moderator tells you to stop doing something then stop, if you are unable to stop yourself, your account will be deleted. Moderators are in place to keep the forum running smoothly, what they say goes.

Everyone won't agree on many things, but the one thing we should agree on is that we are here so that no brother or sister veteran gets left behind, not on a jungle trail, not on a desert trail and not on a paper trail." Tbird
The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.
Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary.
There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.
New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.
HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. These are aimed at maintaining harmony on the Web Forum.. When one person disrupts many then we feel it's time to take action.
Remember that most that come to our discussion forum have been wounded in one way or another. Be kind to each other, if angered take a day to respond. Personal attacks are not what we are about; we are about helping our brother and sister veterans.

Opinion on Dr. Anaise
I went in search of the most qualified IMO Doctor I could find. I spent two days combing forums and asking questions. Then I found Dr. Anaise. He’s not only an active Medical Doctor, but also a certified VA Disability Lawyer. I was immediately impressed that he had dual professional expertise to offer. Next, I researched his lawyer side in Citations and found he had won a good number of sleep apnea appeals. I contacted Dr. Anaise to do my Sleep Apnea appeal, and he did not disappoint. I got a 12-page report loaded with graphic exhibits, strong medical rationales, medical literature documenting and connecting my s/c secondaries – rhinitis and sinus – to Sleep Ap…

Referral for VA knowledgeable Psychiatrist near GA Please.
This involves GAD, TBI, migraines, tinnitus (but really also includes dementia, water on the brain (NPH), Meniere's disorder, centralized sleep apnea, depression, et. al... all secondary to latent stages of Blast Shock TBI ). I am in the GA area, but am having a problem locating a Psychiatrist IMO expert ANY where. I have also just moved across country and have no VA experts to guide me at all for anything. I used to have a whole TBI department's support which I severely need, and have absolutely no support at all now: period. To be discrete with an actual referral candidate, please PM me. Thank you!

Dr Robert Coyle - Marine, VietNam Vet, PHD Psycholgist - Indiana
As with all veterans suffering from ailments due to service, and especially PTSD, which can only be awarded after a VA employed C&P PHD level Psychologist opines a DSM5 diagnosis, we are often treated as liars, cheats and beggars by the very institution that has sworn an oath to assist us. I recently had to pay for a private, un-biased, 3rd party IME in order to battle against the VA’s railroad job on my PTSD claim. Because they ignore facts, do not follow their own laws/statutes and 99% of the time re-diagnose PTSD as some other issue, it seems we all must travel this road more often than not. I will be honest, I can more easily afford an IME than many in …

IMO from Dr. Anaise for PTSD
I did obtain an IMO from Dr. David Anaise for my claim although I'm not sure now it was necessary with the other letter I had from my doctor and the C&P results. I will say though it was well written, eight pages reviewing existing records (with heavy quotations) and an opinion of "more likely than not". While Dr. Anaise is not a psychiatrist I took a chance on him as he's close to where I lived and I've read good results from his clients. I will hang onto the letter and they offered to update it at a later date if needed. The only thing I'd add is more rationale although he did reference and quote the C&P rationale in his opine comments. The letter forma…

No C&P for Secondary claim
I applied for Sleep Apnea secondary to PTSD (Aggravation). I submitted a FDC on 9/17/17 with the following evidence Nexus Letter provided by my VA doctor stating " it is more likely than not Mr. xxxxx Sleep Apnea aggravates his PTSD and his PTSD aggravates his Sleep Apnea". DBQ filled out from my VA Pulmonologist stating "Veterans PTSD and Sleep Apnea is at least additive" VA Sleep Study showing Dx of Severe Sleep Apnea. Evidence showing prescribed CPAP from VA Statement in Support of Claim from Wife, and fellow NCO I served with observing my symptoms. 2 Studies providing link of Sleep Apnea and PTSD in returning Iraq/Afghanistan Vetera…

IMO/Nexus for Diabeties Type 2
I am currently service connected for herniated disk 20% with radiculopathy 10%, bilateral plantar fasciitis 30%, and PTSD 70%. I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 in 2015 a year after I was medically retired for my back and radiculopathy. I go to the VA for treatment and can not get a DBQ from the VA, which unfortunately has been the norm for me. So I am looking at obtaining a nexus for diabetes as a secondary condition. My question is do I connect it to the physical disabilities or the mental? I'm looking a more the physical i.e. the herniated disk and radiculopathy as the mental seems to be harder to have approved. Does anyone know who I could obtain this nexus from…

Vocational Rehab assessment & TDIU claim
Background: 90% rated 70% PTSD with C & P exam date of April 2017 20% DDD Lumbar spine 20% radiculopathy left leg 10% left knee 10% right knee 10% tinnitus I am applying for TDIU and SSDI. Just filed both as of two weeks ago. I also attended my first treatment for PTSD with VA. She is recommending Prolonged Exposure treatment which I am not sure about yet. Not sure if I can handle that just yet. The notes from first appointment states: Clearly has PTSD and would make a good candidate for prolonged exposure treatment. Claims Without C&p Exam?
Okay I have a NOD by DRO actively at the RO. I also have new claims in at the RO. I had a IMO from Dr. Bash that basically put everything together for the NOD by DRO and it linked current issues on the new claims. On ebenefits it shows my claim status is at Review of Evidence and that means they have received all evidence. I also haven't had any C&P Exam for these new claims and one of them is IU. Is it possible that since my last C&P exam was in 2011 or Dr. Bash's IMO will trump any C&P Exam that there is no need for a C&P Exam? Has anybody ever filed a claim and never had a C&P exam because they used the IMO in lieu of the C&P Exam? Just …

ptsd George Bush Center
So my Primary doctor said since they can't help me or have failed along with my service department in evaluation of my TBI on the severity he wants to send me to the George Bush Center on TBI research. He said he is speaking with Dr. Kelly this week so I think I may finally be properly evaluated and treated for all my injuries invisible as some are and being able to finally figure out my black out problem. I have found a VA doctor who cares about my issues and is trying to get the 1. The Va to pay for it or 2. Have the Bush center do it for free for aid in researching for them. IMO/IME Source & Price
I can't afford an IMO/IME to counter the C&P examiner report. I'm gonna have to beg, borrow and steal from my coin jars. My lawyer says he uses a doctor who charges $1500. Dr. Valette will charge me $2000. I like Dr. Valette's videos and his style. http://shrink911.net/ I'm not trying to be negative, but I feel a denial is more likely than not from VA. I need to prepare. Can someone tell me what kind of timeline is necessary after the denial letters arrive to submit an IMO/IME to counter a recent C&P exam? 60 days 7 days 3 months A year?

Need 2nd opinion outside VA
Don't know where else to post this. Had tumor removed at VA hospital. Got patholoogy report, it said it is non-invasive, non-metastasizing. From what I can tell from the report it was inconclusive as to it being carcinoma, but they are erring on the side of caution in saying that it is. This will of course affect what kind of treatment is recommended. I have asked how to have it sent outside the VA for 2nd opinion. Patient Advocate Office said to call the pathology department. Path dept. said no need for that since it had already been reviewed by a second VA pathologist, but any such request would need to be done through the Request for Inform…

Dr. Craig Bash
Our condolences go out to Dr. Craig Bash for the unfortunate loss of his beloved Mother on July 24, 2016. As he always has done on behalf of veterans; Dr. Bash showed an enormous amount of compassion, love and attention to her in the months leading up to her passing. Our prayers are with him to find peace in knowing she is in the hands of God now. Bless you Dr. Bash for all you do for those around you and it is great to know you are back to work helping veterans once again.
