IMO Independent Medical Opinion

Guidelines

Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.

  • No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
  • No vulgar language
  • No offensive verbal assaults
  • No sexual connotations
  • No personal attacks
  • No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
  • No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.

I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.

Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.

1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.

Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.

I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.

Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.

Example is:

A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?

I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?

I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.

Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary. 

There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.

New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.

HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. These are aimed at maintaining harmony on the Web Forum.. When one person disrupts many then we feel it's time to take action.

  4. Why does the VA ask for another med opinion for one condition but not another?

    Hello all, I'd really like your input on my case. I'm trying to find out why the VA seeks a follow up medical opionion for one condition but not another. A brief history of my case is as follows:1. Initially filed in Nov 2011 and submitted two IMO's about my back in early 20132. VA exams in Aug 2013 for back and audio3. Decision issued in Oct 2013 denying audio and back but granting increase in another already service connected condition4.     Instead of continuing a thread that dealt with CUE and beating a dead horse I thought it wise to start a new thread.     Is this opinion adequate for a nexus letter or does it not have enough rationale? His current mood disorder dx, Bipolar I Disorder, is related to active-service Major Depressive Disorder dx. Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that manifests as major depressive episodes and/or hypo-manic/manic/mixed episodes. He was stable on Risperdal (Risperdal is FDA approved for manic episodes associated with Bipolar I Disorder) in active-service, unclear why a bipolar disorder dx was r/o and rx discontinued.   13. Imo Dr. In Killeen Temple Or Austin Area For Fybromyalgia

    Does anyone know a doctor who does IMO letters for Fibromyalgia. I have a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia from a Rheumatologist from Scott & White, Chronic Pain Syndrome and Myofacial Pain from the VA. The C&P clearly went my way except the nurse practitioner who did the C&P stated I had a diagnosis but it does not seem related to Active Duty Service by review of SMR's. So it is going to be hard to pass this under Gulf War presumptive illnesses. Any Help in this matter will be appreciated.

    Hi All. My claim for Sleep apnea, Hypertension and Rhinitis just hit the "pending decision phase". I dont know how it will turn out but I wanted to post a copy of my IME/Nexus from Dr Ellis.     I have received my IMO from Valor Compensation Consulting and am posting it here for everyones opinion. I am pleased overall, I do wish she had gone into more detail on the rationale portion. She also included over thirty pages of medical journal articles relevant to the secondary conditions, and my treatment records, which are all tabbed and highlighted.     I have contacted valor compensation Consulting from this site. I found them to be very helpful and beneficial they are even reviewing all my service records to see what may have been missed by my VSO. I was told that if I get any referrals it would be a discount from my cost of the IMO. What I really liked is they are vet owned and the husband is a combat vet not to mention they offered to take payments to help me and my family for the cost of their service and my regular bills.   19. Secondary to Service Connected Issue

    Is it true that for secondary issues you DO NOT need your in service medical records reviewed in order to obtain a Nexus letter? And has anyone had any success in claiming secondary issues? For example I am looking at putting in a claim for neck and hip pain secondary to my service connected lower back pain. I'm being treated for both neck and hip pain by my VA doctor.   20. connect IBS/Gerd to PTSD

    Hi, I guess the question is what do I need to do? I am preparing to do NOD for gerd/IBS secondary to PTSD. What should I get an IME or IMO? I live in NJ and was looking at SEAK website. Can a internal doctor provide the IMO/IME? for secondary IBS/GErd issues? Do they need to fill out DBQ or just a letter relating the two. Should an MH doctor do this? Side note : MH VA doctor just switched my meds, put me on Mirtazapine 15mg. 3 days ago.     Hi everyone I saw my Doctor yesterday and I asked and received a IMO for carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome secondary to right shoulder injury.   24. Dr. Bash (Chris Bash)?

    Has anyone actually talked to Dr. Bash in the last month or so? Has anyone heard of his son Chris Bash. Got a phone call from Chris Bash whom said he was working with his dad. I recently sent a package two days ago, but I can not verify that I am actually talking to someone from Dr. Craigs office.     My wife was denied Asthma and headaches in 2011. The appeal is currently at BVA and after I had her pull her file from her CVSO, I realized her vet rep was rather incompetent. (Her claim was a real mess and I knew she would lose if something didn't change fast). My first step was meeting with John Dorle.
