ptsd Triggers - Vietnam Veterans, Discharged Under Cloud, File Suit Saying Trauma Was Cause
By JAMES DAO Published: December 2, 2012 "NEW HAVEN In the summer of 1968, John Shepherd Jr. enlisted in the Army, figuring that the draft would get him anyway. By January 1969, he was in the Mekong Delta, fighting with the Ninth Infantry Division. Within a month, his patrol was ambushed, and Mr. Shepherd responded by tossing a hand grenade into a bunker that killed several enemy soldiers. The Army awarded him a Bronze Star with a valor device, one of its highest decorations." ptsd Would Like Advice Ptsd Appeal
Hi, I went through the claim system years ago and originally was rated 10% for my back 10% PTSD. I appealed and was award 30% on PTSD. That decision was in Feb 2011. Since then I have gone through a lot of different problems in my life, the worst being arrested for DUI in April 2011 and then drunk in public a couple months later. I rarely drink now, for the record. I've had issues with interpersonal relationships and being an xxxxxxx to a few friends who don't speak to me now. I was awarded Vocational Rehab but I have dropped out 3 of 4 semesters due to injury or stress from my ex over child support, contact with my son and her wanting to go after what little compensa…

Financial Hardship
I am writing on behalf of my uncle. In the past year he lost everything. He is now on a very tiny SS income. He is in the process of claim for SC disability. Is form 5655 Financial Status Report the correct form for getting his prescription co-pays waived? Also, will this help for getting transportation costs reimbursed? To whom should he file this form? He is living day by day on the grace of friends. Thank you.

ptsd Peggy Says: "adequate For Rating"?
I had submitted my claim for PTSD, and about 5 other physical issues in October of 2008. I was in Iraq during OIF III. I got denied (no C and P)in 2009 while inpatient at the Montrose VA PTSD unit, of course I hired a lawyer and appealed I finally had a C & P for PTSD October 9, 2011. Peggy said they recieved the C and P exam October 24th, and also said that on November 28th my file says "adequate for rating". Unsure what that exactly means. I've had a lawyer since the original denial, not to mention contacting 2 congressmen, and a senator, all of which seemed useless. I'm just curious if this is going to a ratings board, or doesn't really mean anything. Welcom…

ptsd Getting Seen For Ptsd?
Hello, I'm new here but thought this was the best section to ask this. When I was going to a VA center in Long Beach, I had multiple civilian therapists and doctors tell me they think I have a high possibility of having PTSD, from the problems I have told them I have. They strongly suggested I go to the VA PTSD therapists and see if I can get seen there and get evaluated. Although I was reluctant, I finally decided to go. The individual must have asked me 4 questions and I was there a total of 10 or less minutes, before I was told I don't have it. I felt like he didn't even care to give me a proper evaluation and he told me to just go to Mental Health. I have dep…

C&p Test And Written Test?
It has been some time since I have been here, and I am back asking for more advice.. Just the other day I was in having a Comp and Pension test with the Dr. I was asked question after question, after about 2 hours or so, I was still having a time opening up and sharing the major incident.. About that time the Dr, advised me that I will have to come in an take a long written test, and then we will have to talk again.. This is my second C&P, as I was denied and sent in a Notice of Disagreement,, Any idea why I have to take a written test, and meet with the Dr, again.. Any advise..

ptsd What Additional Evidence Do I Need For My Claim To Be Successful?
What additional evidence do I need for my claim to be successful? I was denied a PTSD claim back in 2005. I was in the Gulf and served in the grunts in a combat zone. I was diagnosed with PTSD by a Psychiatrist (private Doctor) in 2005 my GAF score was a 43. The VA needless to say stated I didn't have PTSD according to the VA Psychologist that did my 30 minute C&P exam I had a severe personality disorder and in her notes she gave me a GAF score of 38. I never filed a NOD at the time I just wanted to be done with the VA after reading the C&P examiners notes I was basically called a scam artist. I filed again for PTSD in August 2012 and was diagnosed again by the…

ptsd Appeal Process For Ptsd (Ro Level)
My husband has appealed his 70% PTSD rating and is trying to get to 100%. We have a meeting with his social worker therapist (he sees him weekly) on Tuesday and are taking the attached form (VA Review PTSD Disability Benefits Questionnaire, VA FORM 21-0960P-3) for him to fill out and sign, followed by a co-signature by the psychiatrist. Is there anything else that would be helpful to submit with it? And is there anything specific the therapist should include in the comments section? We have read extensively about the criteria and are confident he falls within the guidelines, but aren’t quite sure how to articulate "grossly inappropriate behavior; persistent danger of hurt…
