Undiagnosed ptsd claim
I just filed claims through the va for ptsd and tinnitus as well as other claims but never have been diagnosed for either. The VSO told me that my bronze star, arcom with valor, and CAB would make it a given to get the diagnosis and win the claim.. do the awards really hold that much value in the decision. What should I expect in the process with the va?

PTSD
I have just seperated from my wife and she is telling me the main reason is that I have changed to much and that my PTSD worries her too. I have been in treatment for the last 3 years, however, somedays I don't feel like its helping. I am not a fan of the medication and I have stopped taking them over two years ago. I was told to add it to my PTSD as a secondary, but secondary will it fall under?

Anybody know if this is true or not?
I hear a lot of talk around the VA that veterans diagnosed with PTSD will have to turn in their guns to their local VA. A letter/order is supposed to go out in January 2020 to all veterans diagnosed with PTSD letting us know that we have to turn in all of our guns to the local VA department. Anybody know if this is true or not? I was diagnose with Chronic PTSD few years back & My Dr and L.C.S.W. Ask me to give my guns to my son, I did all but one. but was never ordered to.

Need Help
I am currently rated at 90% and I am looking to increase my rating due to declining health problems. I am rated currently at 70% for PTSD and I am having secondary effects from it. Was just diagnose with Sleep Apnea, Depression, Alcoholism and prediabetes. This has caused me to distance myself from my wife and now we are getting a divorce. Should I claim this under secondary to my PTSD or just new claims for everything. Also, I was denied a claim for chest pains when I got out, however, years later I found that I was diagnose with costochondritis while in the service and twice since I have retired. Should I reopen my chest pain claim or just file a new claim with ju…

PTSD diagnosis changed at C&P exam
I am helping a coworker out with his claim for PTSD. He is an Iraq war veteran and was initialy diagnosed by a VA Psychiatrist with having PTSD so he filed a disability claim for it. When he went to his C&P exam the examiner opined that he had a personality disorder and not PTSD and was denied. His VSO hasn't given him any worthwhile advice on how to proceed. He is approaching his one year deadline to file for an appeal, he has about a month left. Question: 1. Is it too late to request a new C&P exam? 2. Can he claim a CUE due to the differing diagnoses? 3. Should he file the appeal then try to get an independant diagnoses to back up his original VA diagno…

No Diagnosis But Submitted Claim
Sorry to bother everyone, but I have a few questions about the claims process. Has anyone ever been approved for PTSD or another mental health disorder without first getting a diagnosis? I recently filed for PTSD and anxiety and had a C&P exam. The C&P examiner said I had symptoms of PTSD. Does her filling out the DBQ suffice for a diagnosis? Or am I probably going to get denied? If I get denied, should I go to the VA and then get an official diagnosis? Apologies if these are rookie questions. Thank you for the help.

Va disability & C&P question regarding veteran with suicide risk
So my husband is going though the VA disability process. He began treatment in April doing CPT which aggravated his symptoms immensely. In May, he was fired from the job he has held for 8 years. In June, he was put on disability leave from his National Guard unit after command became aware of his suicide risk and they have mandated that he continues the therapy which is only making the situation worse. He has been in for 15 years and most likely will be medically chaptered out which has worsened his depression significantly. Due to his suicidal thoughts I am trying to manage this financial crisis as best I can because I’m afraid he is being pushed over the edge. He just s…

Need advise on filing a ptsd claim with no combat
I recently tried to file a ptsd claim but was told by the intake officer that I needed to have a diagnosis first. Background is that I was physically assaulted by a drill sgt in one incident and I had a near downing incident in another incident. The assault was reported and investigated and they ended up transferring the sgt to another unit. I have been struggling with nightmares and flashbacks as well as other symptoms of ptsd ever since. Over time my mental health has gotten worse, not better. I never discussed it with anyone except my mother who encouraged me to report the incident even though I was to scared to. I've been ashamed and hiding what I've been going …

MST PTSD Claim Filed With Diagnosis From Civilian Doc
First, I'm so entirely confused right now; that I am just about to forget all of this. I am stressed to the brink, and I feel like I'm right back in the same hell that gave me the condition in the first place. My VSO rep is a straight drunk, and he/she is HORRIBLE at their job. I was never referred to an MST Coordinator or even knew they were someone different than the VSO. I was instructed that I needed to get my condition diagnosed. I was told I could use the VA (which I'd never known about or used before). I called the VA, and they told me it would take over a month to even get the first appointment. After waiting as long as I have to actually admit I neede…
