ptsd Need Advise
Hello All, Got the brown envelope yesterday and to my surpise my PTSD claim was denied. I submitted a very well grounded claim, with a daignosis and dr's letter providing a nexus to the event that happened while I was on active duty. I did not receive a C&P exam just a denial letter. Isn't a C&P required with a well grounded claim? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

ptsd Is This Ptsd Or Just Plain Anxiety?
I have a couple of scenarios which I am not sure would qualify as being PTSD. Motor vehicle accident While in service, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident on a snowy road. At some point I think lost consciousness because I lost some time, but sought care in the emergency room on base and have not sought treatment since then. Lately, when I hear about potential snowfall in my area, coupled with the fact that people in Alabama don't know how to drive on snow, I become very nervous. Granted it doesn't snow a lot here, but when it does I tend to get very nervous, my heart races, not able to get the memory out of my head from the accident every time I blink my …

ptsd How Do I Raise My Sc For Ptsd Due To Mst
Hi everybody :D . I wanted to see if anyone knew how to raise my Service Connection for PTSD. Currently my rating is 30% for PTSD due to MST. I use to work at a VA hospital for about 3 years as a nurse and I abruptly quit because on one occasion I saw the bastard that hurt me while I was active duty checking in for an appointment with his wife and child. Almost two weeks later I decided to never return to work and I moved from Virginia to Michigan. I have not worked since. What I decided to do so I could make some money I went back to school. I have been a student for 1 year and a couple of months but I feel like quitting because it is getting harder for me to focus and c…

ptsd Ptsd C & P
I don't know if this is the right forum but I was reading and decided to seek information regarding my situation. In 2007 I was hospitalized in Perry Point, Md. with a diagnosis of severe PTSD. I attended an intense program to help me. I finished that and was told to put in a claim for the dx. I did so and never got anything back from the VA. I moved to another state and asked a VSO to check into the claim and found out that my claims had been included with the Haas V Nicholson case (Blue Water Navy). It didn't matter that I had submitted evidence that i had been in country and had been diagnosed with the PTSD. Eventually I was told by my VSO that I had been denied…

diabetes I Read And Read Am A Bit Confused
I'm one messed dude these days. Over the last few years I've really gone down hill mentally. Near suicide had me calling the VA for the first time in 40 years. The VA has been good to me.... in fact super to me. I got a lot of help and got it right away. I am in group too with my brothers (and sisters) and I find that good. Still a messed up guy, I ended up locked in the MH ward the Saturday night after Fort Hood... that so messed my head up. I just got my rating and I have to be thankful again. I had 10% for my wound from years ago, and now they gave me 70% PTSD and 20% for Diabetes II. My total score is now 80%. I'm older, but still have two teenagers at ho…

ptsd Advice On Non-combat Ptsd Claim
Hi all. I've read this forum for a while but just joined to post. I submitted a claim for PTSD based on the following stressors: 1. Got exercise induced asthma on a run with my CWO and when I got back to the shop, passed out and hit a wall locker on the way down with my head. Miss-diagnosed with "reactive airway disease" and made to continue PT. I can only describe this like almost drowning every other morning at 5:15am 2. Harrassment (non sexual, just mean) from a Sgt. in one command 3. Was Sgt of the Guard in Oki during a bomb threat at the mail room and had to post Marines (and myself) in the projected blast radius. 4. Sent to Oki my last year without …

ptsd Ptsd Increase
I'm currently at 30% for PTSD, and I'm ready to file for an increase. Nightmares have gotten worse, insomnia is the norm, intrusive thoughts throughout the day, bouncing from job to job, realtionship with the wife is getting rockier by the day, etc. (you get the picture) My question is will another C&P exam need to be performed? I am currently receiving counseling from a VA social worker twice monthly and have a VA shrink dispensing the meds, so my file would be an open book for them to review. Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

diabetes Two Iris Responses
Several weeks ago I called the 1800 number in regards to the PTSD rating increase my VSO (PVA) put in for me in April. I was wondering how it was going and made the call. The answer I got was...It was pending. The answer was vague so I waited about a week and did a status of my claim request via IRIS. This was about 3 weeks ago. In about 2 days I got this reply: **** This is in response to your inquiry dated September 5,2009, regarding the status of your PTSD claim. "In researching your file, our records reflect your claim was sent to the rating board and is ready for final decision. Even after a decision has been made, there are several administrative steps…

ptsd Appealing Ptsd Claim
I was denied for my first claim due to my lack of listing stressors. I appealing and have listed stressors this time. I have two separate PTSD diagnosis's from different states. Like many Jarheads, I am not comfortable "complaining", but I have been suffering with this stuff for too long and its time to get on the ball. My question is. What else do I do? Should I go through the DAV or mail this in on my own? Help!
