ptsd Non Combat Ptsd
Some months back when I went to my PTSD examination, the doctor did not want to hear about my stressors prior to Vietnam. He said we just need to leave it alone. I believe that I had PTSD even before I went to Vietnam. Should I persue this, or just do like the good doctor said and drop it? Papa

Claim For Sexual Trauma
I was sexually assaulted by a superior while in the service, and now I'm filing a claim based on that. The trouble is that I didn't report the assault to anyone, and I have nothing other than what my life is like now compared to what it was before I started serving. What needs to be included in the stressor letter and the paperwork for the claim? If it requires documentation of any type, I have nothing directly related to what happened to me.

Vietnam
My psychologist asked me if I ever wanted to go back to Nam? Answer NO. I said I didn't want to go there in the first place. I don't know where they come up with these bullshit questions. I don't see how this helps with anything. Bill

Va Social Security Exams
I have a VA psychiatric exam next month and now social security wants me to have one now. I have a big problem with this because the last one the SSA cancelled it. Why must I have two different exams when social security has been using mainly VA Medical records. What are the differences in the two exams and does the SSA have to have the graphic details? I mean SSA has letters to them from my VA docs and all, so why do I need a seperate test. I'm sorry but sometimes I feel like telling them where they can all put it. What I guess is the SSA exam like has anyone had one?

ptsd Ptsd Increase
I have been reading this forum for some time now and have a question of my own. I am new to this, so any help that you can offer would be great. I am an Iraq vet and I came home with all sorts of problems that I was in denial about. After 4 years of jumping from one job to another and stressing my wife to the limit, I finally decided to go to the VA. Upon going there I was immediately diagnosed with PTSD and was told by my VSO to file a claim ASAP. My initial claim was sent through in April 2008 and approved 50% Sept 2008. I received a retroactive check back to the effective date of my claim. I filed a claim on Aug 14 2009 for other conditions that I have since…

ptsd Ptsd Claim Re-opened
I went to the DAV on 19 Oct to re-open my claim. I was CC'd on a letter from the DAV asking the VA to "expedite" my claim. Yesterday(26 oct) I got the packet and will take the completed packet in on Thurs day I still need to make copies. Don't want to give them my originals. As they tend to lose or "not receive" paperwork. Lol. Wish me luck! Hopefully all goes smoothly (Well as much as can be expected from the VA) I'm sure I'll have more questions during the course of the process. Thanks for all your help Angel

Social Security And The Va
I have another comp and pen here in a few days at the VAMC, and just happened to be notified by social security that they are also going to send me for an exam. Do the two federal enities ever work together on anything? My VA doctor has sent them a letter explaining everything from GAF scores to medication and given his opinion on the matter. I have never had a mental exam from either so if anyone has, please let me know how they differ. Does a social secuity doctor have any business talking to me about the past, I mean in detail? I'm sure the VA docs are used to it but how are the social security docs dealing with military matters? Do I need to discuss my childhood with …

ptsd Secondary Claims To (sc) Ptsd
Muscle spams, and gerd (acid reflux). Had 'em for a long time, but the trick is gonna be proving they are related to my prominent anxiety. Which I know they are, because of the timing almost always taking place right after anxiety attacks.

Va Records, Clinical Trial, Privacy
Think Commander Bob referenced 'clincal trials' and veterans possible unknown participation. So I took a look at the VA website for Hippa and FOIA information. I found this - very broad interpetation of, imho (cgho) - if they wanna get my info they're gonna. (Haven't found where I can opt out as of yet!) Wakeup Note: When I first searched the VA website for 'privacy policy' its an amazing read. For instance THEY COLLECT - what path we took to their website, the site we visit just before or after accessing and I.P. address and browser used, + other things. Yup, changing my Internet Ops asap!!

ptsd How Much Longer For Ptsd C&p Exam?
I origianlly put in my PTSD claim in back in 2004, and it has been denied twice, and finally was remanded by the board in D.C. On the remand they wanted to write the JSRRC to verify my stressors and I am glad they did because they verified all of them as well as my location etc, but also it said on the remand that I would be sceduled for a C&P exam. SO here is what I have for my PTSD evidence:: Two verified stressors by JSRRC and stressor letters from me on those events. Signed letters from Soldiers I served side by side with that also witnessed stressors. Three sererate diagnosis of PTSD with refrence to GAF scale latest one 45-50. Pictures I took of my Hummve …

ptsd Ptsd Stressor Reminder
Its been over four decades since some of us have experienced the war, and now many RVN vets are applying for PTSD claims, and waiting for C&P exams, or appealing VA denial letters. Vietnam PTSD vets who have survived this long without admitting to our, families, ourselves, or a career full of co-workers, may want to view this Billy Joel song, put to video. Be truthful to yourselves... I apologize in advance, if I have triggered any remembrances that we have spent a lifetime trying to forget. I hope this helps you prepare for your PTSD claim. DSM-IV-TR criteria for PTSD In 2000, the American Psychiatric Association revised the PTSD diagnostic crit…
