ptsd Erroneous Dd-214
I am new to this, but I have a good one. I was discharged in Feb 2006. I served in OIF 1, but my medal and awards DD-214 doesnt reflect. The Army records say that I have no combat experience. I have overwhelming evidence picuters, newspaper articles, letters saying that I did serve in Iraq theatre. I have been denied PTSD twice saying that it is none service connected, because my military records dont reflect. I have since then resubmitted all my new evidence, and still waiting on a decision. If the VA made the error of not doing enough research into my initial claim, will I recieve retro-pay, if granted compensation from the first time I was denied Feb 2006?

ptsd Disability Retirement
I am requiring do I qualify for disability retirement. While attending my PTSD group at the VA, a fellow veteran was telling me about he was qualified for military retirement ( His status: {T&P under 20 years served}) In our group we do not talk about what happen while in the military, we just focus on coping skills and learn from each other how to be stronger and make it thru day by day. So he said I should qualify for it also. After coming home and googleing disability retirement I came upon this article in navy times. (http://www.navytimes.com/careers/retiremen...ement_2007hbml/ ) QUOTE FROM ARTICLE: “Permanent disability Service members officially rate…

ptsd Enough Evidence?
In jun 2006 i was sexually assaulted, by nov 2006 I was medically discharged from the Air Force for major depression among other things. In 2007 I filed my disability claim. I received 20% for chronic back pain and ankle problems. My claim for PTSD was denied because I didn't submit any evidence(too traumatic). Needless to say it has really physically taking a toll on me so I'm going to reopen my claim. If I submit the following evidence do you think my stressor letter has so be so in depth? I really really don't want to write it at all. Evidence= Rape treatment center notes, OSI (air force investigator) notes, and current PTSD diagnosis. While on active duty I was…

ptsd Got My Brown Envelope Today
My rating is 30% PTSD. I'm going to get info together to file a NOD. Looks like the only thing I will need is from my IMO and the buddy letters. They won't be needing anymore evidence that part is done at the moment.

ptsd Dro And Ptsd
I wish I had known of this site before I went for my C&P with a contract psychiatrist. He spent more time downgrading the two psychologists I have been treated by than reading questions from his prepared list. All in the time span of one hour. In short, my claim pending since January 08 was flatly denied despite the reports of the two psychologists which all supported a diagnosis of PTSD and I have spent dozens of hours with them over the last two years. I have sent my notice of disagreement to the Atlanta Regional office and their reply states that my case has been assigned to a DRO but no clue as to a timeframe involved. Does anyone have experience with a DRO?

ptsd Ptsd Claim Went Back To "secondary Rating Board"
I have sent two claim status request in the last month via IRIS. But before I sent them I first called the 1800 number a few days before sending the 1st Iris request and got the reply " you claim is Pending". That was rather vague, so I waited a week and sent in the first IRIS claim status request and got this: ***This is in response to your inquiry dated September 5,2009, regarding the status of your PTSD claim. " In researching your file, our records reflect your claim was sent to the rating board and is ready for final decision. Even after a decision has been made, there are several administrative steps that must be completed before we finalize your claim. This p…

diabetes Obesity Secondary To Ptsd
I have a letter (handwritten) by my doctor that states that, "It is likely that his PTSD led to his obesity. His obesity has led to his other medical problems (sleep apnea, diabetes, etc.). Please evaluate him for service connected benefits that apply". BTW, I also have Hypothyroidism. Would this letter have any weight? Papa

ptsd My Dic Case Hinges On Ptsd
So I read along, and read along, watchng and reading, about those of you who have C&P exams, and about how when you file a claim for disability benefits, the VA makes you an appointment for a C&P to examine you and your symptoms. Has it always been this way? When my late husband filed for PTSD in the 80's, they never scheduled him a C&P and he was denied; and when he filed in the 90's there never was one then either and he was denied. There were however, counseling records at the local vet center that the VA procured, and gave me a copy when I filed for DIC that clearly showed that he was suffering from PTSD. Isn't their not offering him a C&P fo…

A Great Day!
Just wanted to share glad tidings and thank everyone who helped with advice and encouragement over the years. I just got my 100% "total and permanent" the other day. Elated, of course, but even as impressive the VA actually admitted "mishandling" an earlier appeal which was denied. Hence, I received back pay from Oct 2007, rather than July 2008 (which I was expecting if I did win a rate increase). Once again thanks. And to those still fighting for their rights: get frustrated, get angry and upset, but NEVER give up - I almost did!
