ptsd Ptsd Va Diagnosis
Hello vets, I am a discharged US Marine who served in OIF as an infantryman during the invasion. I discharged shortly after returning home. PTSD was never something that gave us any information about in 03. I have lived with ptsd for many years not really knowing what was wrong with me but figured it was just something I had to live with from my combat experiences. I self medicated for years with Alchohol to deal with the stress, anxiety and sleep problems. My wife in the last year has been at the end of her rope with my drinking. I have been dry for a year but its been a hard year dealing with ptsd without my main coping tool (alchohol). I have seek counseling whi…

ptsd Looking For Experience Or Advice With Ptsd Claim
I was medically retired from the AF in 2007 for permanent mental illness (on my DD214) and had a VA claim approved in 2008 about a year later for bipolar disorder, which they gave me 30% for. I had been hospitalized while still active duty for suicidal ideations. I have been in constant care since discharge and have been treated by four psychiatrists, countless therapists, and been on over a dozen different psychiatric drugs throughout the years. My current psychiatrist believes that I may not have only bipolar disorder, but instead have and had PTSD which was missed in my initial diagnosis. I have been in PTSD treatment for over six months now. I did deploy to a comb…

ptsd Wms-New-Member-With-Question's
I have a question about Major Depressive Disorder and PTSD. I understand that there is a pyramiding process when being evaluated by both and they both can fall into the same category as far as the percentage given for disability. Does one help the other when the rating comes into play? If I was just diagnosed with MDD only would the rating be the same, even if I was diagnosed with the both. What I mean is since I was diagnosed with both is there a possibility for a higher rating.

ptsd Does The Va Usually Follow The Qtc Recomendations For Ratings?
Hello All, Just got a copy of my C&P exam for PTSD done by QTC in August. Two things popped up while reading it, a GAF of 60 and under the heading of "Occupational and social impairment", she checked the box that corresponnds to 30%(..with occasional decrease in work efficiency and intermittent periods of inability....). The claim is service related(actually provided a newspaper article with my name and picture in it), but one of the not sure factors is the fact I'm 100% disabiled by Social Security. Does anyone have any experience with how well the QTC exam findings correlate to VA ratings? Does the VA look at the SS rating as a factor? Thanks for any input,…

ptsd C&p For Ptsd (Tdiu) Tomorrow
Iraq War Vet 2008-09. 2010-11 I am rated 70% for PTSD and was inferred IU. I sent in my IU form in April and my C&P for "PTSD review" is scheduled for tomorrow. I assume it's to either increase the PTSD or judge my case for IU. I will give an update on how the C&P went and the general questions asked. I'll keep updating how fast the case moves after my C&P. My current status on Ebenefits is "Gathering evidence".

ptsd Thinking Therapist Has To Have Gone Thru It?
I have been noticing quite a bit of vets coming on making comments like the above, which to me and my therapist is an insult to the profession! Why would I feel more comfortable with a therapist who has the same conditions I have? The therapist we see are doctors and it would be wrong if the doctor you see also has PTSD or MST to be comparing his her reaction to theirs! I swear when I hear see vets post that they think this, I almost go ballistic! I go to my therapist to be treated for what I have PTSD and not to discuss his ailments. His knowledge and his training is what I am relying on to help me with meds and with dealing with everyday issues that I s…

The Evidence Does Not Show A Confirmed Diagnosis Of Ptsd
I have a civilian doctor that had diagnosed me with ptsd, my denial letter says the evidence does not show a confirmed diagnosis of ptsd which would permit a finding of service connection. The available medical evidence is in sufficient to confirm a link bewteen current symptoms and an in-service stressor. I have only been seeing civilian doctors but am going to va shrink next month. I have a few in service stressors, being shot at is one of them and a buddy letter from a guy who is still active duty to support it. Another was i was working security duty during 911 and months after words, it was alot of pressure especially since a cell got arrested with explosiv…

ptsd How Can I Prove This To Va?
Diagnosed by civilian Dr. with PTSD. Was deployed twice. Once in Egpyt, other was in Kuwait during 96 Khobar Towers bombing, assisted an EOD blow too close to blast radius(no injuries or death) doused with diesel during re-fueling accident, and lived in GP medium around 24/7 explosions from Udari Range (was a 55B ammo spec) No records of anything as I tried to cover up my fear out there. How can I prove one of these stressors?
