New C&P exam 2 years after getting disability?
Hey guys! You all were very helpful when my husband was going through the PTSD claim process. He finally received his approval Oct of 2017. He just received a phone call on Thursday letting him know he has a new C&P exam scheduled for the 25th. He never asks a lot of questions, but can anyone tell me why? Are they trying to take away his 70% disability? Are they trying to rate him higher? What is the purpose for this after him being 70% disabled for 2 years. I can tell you, he is NOT any better than 2 years ago. He's lost a job and had a week stay at a private hospital for his PTSD during these 2 years. I'm just so confused why he is having to do another exa…

Lawyer to help with Social Security Disability?
My husband is currently rated at 70% PTSD. Last December, the VA wanted to take that down to 50%, even though he wasn't working because of his PTSD. He appealed the 50% and even asked for TDIU. We are currently waiting for those claims to be decided. He also filed for Social Security Disability and was denied last week. He stated his case to a lawyer who specializes in this type of law and they took his case. Has anyone ever hired a lawyer to fight their SSD denial? Wondering what to expect. Thanks!

PTSD disability decision didn't include key concern
Earlier this year, I had VA sponsored exams, including one for PTSD. My existing rating originates from two traumatic incidents during each of my two tours in RVN. During the exam, I provided a detailed description of my depression & other symptoms & explained that since my deteriorating health, including advanced cancer and the need to use a catheter and impotence, I'd had recurring thoughts of suicide, including research on a possible trip to Holland to end my life there. The psychologist was empathetic, even offering me contact info about death with dignity. When my VA decision came recently, no mention of the suicide discussion was considered in the ratin…

2010 PTSD regulations
"Effective July 13, 2010, the regulations governing adjudication of service connection for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) were liberalized, in certain circumstances, with respect to the evidentiary standard for establishing the required in-service stressor. For cases pending before VA as of that date, if a stressor claimed by a veteran is related to the Veteran's fear of hostile military or terrorist activity and a VA psychiatrist or psychologist, or a psychiatrist or psychologist with whom VA has contracted, confirms that the claimed stressor is adequate to support a diagnosis of PTSD and that the Veteran's symptoms are related to the claimed stressor, in the absen…

Acute Stress reaction? PTSD?
Recently I have finally decided to seek help for my PTSD. Since I got out of service almost 10 years ago I have seen the shrink on the civilian side twice. I was diagnosed with PTSD but stopped going. I was even prescribed meds but never took them out of fear. Today, I finally decided to get real help this time. During my PTSD with the VA PA. She told me that I scored really high on the PTSD screening and that she would set up a C and P exam for me. That someone would call to set up the appointment. I checked my health summary on myhealthevet a day after my phone screening. She Added "Acute stress reaction ICD10 F43.0 with Provider Comments: Acute Stress Reaction" …

Submitted claim for Sleep Apnea secondary to PTSD
After a lot of research on the 18th I submitted my claim for Sleep Apnea secondary to PTSD. I waited a while due to the fact I wanted another sleep study done by the VA. Had that completed and placed on a Cpap machine. After doing many months of research I found that many Sleep Apnea secondary to PTSD claims were won by having a nexus letter written by a doctor stating that their PTSD at least likely as not aggravated there Sleep Apnea and that their Sleep Apnea as least likely at not aggravated their PTSD. This is the way my Doctor and my counselor wrote them. I also found 18 studies on PTSD and Sleep apnea . I will keep you all updated and hope to be able to post pos…
