ptsd Request Increase In Ptsd
Back in Aug 2010, I submitted a form for an increase for PTSD. On Oct 6, 2010, I had my C&P exam. I have not heard a word about this until I had a friend that works at the VA find out for me, and he tells me that it is at the Raters. Does anyone have a guess how long it takes at the Raters? I was told that they will go by the oldest date first. Papa

Alternatives To Xanax
Recently started seeing the VA psychiatrist and physcologist about my anxiety- textbook GAD according to them. I think I registered about 75% of the symptoms. The pyschiatrist has me on zoloft and 4mg klonopin a day, so she has been very generous with the medications. Both help enormously with my day to day anxiety issues and regular panic attacks. However neither touch my acute panic attacks. I've told her about this and we've tried ativan and valium with similar results. Because of their fairly lengthly onset time by the time my acute panic attacks in full swing the klonopin does nothing to ease it. She has already made it clear she very rarely perscribes Xanax because …

ptsd Noise Aversion
I am 50% PTSD and 30% GSW total 80%. I also suffer from tinitus but have not pursued it. Not sure if I am in right forum for this? But since Viet Nam I have not liked loud noise, music, machinery, motorcycles, crowds of people, anything loud. I have mentioned this at the VA but nothing was done about it except a hearing test. Now I find out on the internet it is a medical condition, noise aversion or misophonia. I seem to have level 8 misophonia. Is this connected to being a Viet Nam Vet in any way? JIm

Meeting With Pyschol Dr.
Last Thursday I had a meeting with psycholoist, this is the same Dr that gave the 16 weeks group therapy. I felt very relaxed while we was talking, little did I know he was typing every word I was saying to the questions he was asking. At the end I got a copy of the questionair, The GAF WAS 55, SO I GUESS I WILL GET LOW BALLED from the VA on the rating. All I can say is don't let your guard down, when you know the DR. Thanks to all who makes a comment on this.

Does This Rate As A Stressor?
If you pulled perimeter guard duty at a small air base and saw and heard firefights within less than a half mile of the base on a nightly basis would this qualify as a stressor under new rules? We often expected to be underfire any minute.

"DoD orders review of mental health diagnoses By Patricia Kime - Staff writer Posted : Wednesday Jun 13, 2012 16:33:06 EDT The Defense Department plans to review all military mental health cases dating to 2001 to ensure troops were not denied appropriate diagnoses or service-related benefits, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Wednesday. ptsd Ptsd Claim
I filed for PTSD back in Oct 2011. This past month, I had received documentation from the VA, stating they need additional evidence showing the condition existed from military service. Attached was the statementin support form, which i'll fill out. My question, since I have never been diagnosed, what else do I have to do? What is the VA bound to do by law? I have seen a doctor, and have documentaion and medications for sleep. Do I actually have to be diagnosed for this to move beyond this stage? Any information would be appreciated. Nate

ptsd (New Guy) Help With Va Appeal, Etc....
So last year my brother and I lived in an apartment I owned. He was also a veteran. I was rated 50% for PTSD at the time, and two doctors told me to send in an appeal to raise my rating. My brother was going through a lot himself, he was diagnosed bipolar and the way he was treated in the military made him get a chapter 5-17 just to escape the abuse. He eventually commited suicide in my apartment a few months later and I missed an important PTSD appointment which was scheduled on the same time as he commited suicide so I missed it, and many appointments after that due to my brother. (I saw what he did so now I struggle with ptsd and memories of my brothers suicide). I …

ptsd Ptsd Meeting With The Dr.
Well I had a meeting with my PTSD Doctor on May 2. The meeting wasn't very long, maybe 45 min. He did ask a lot of questions about my time in VN. I did have to revist the events that took place while in country, which was very stressfull. I also told him about the dreams and the night mares and night sweats. Then he asked about my private life well as my social life. I explained to him I have been married 2 times and been single since 1977. I also told him I am in a relationship, but married it out. Well toward the end he said my numbers was low, so what does that mean? any suggestions on this would be helpful. thanks.
