ptsd Ptsd Claim
I have been diagnosed with PTSD since 2001. I been diagnosed by V.A. doctors and only V.A. doctors with this condition. I was not diagnosed until after my discharge. A fellow veteran suggested that i file a claim even thought it is a childhood trauma and there were circumstances in service which served as stressors. My question is should i file and what if i should will the reprimands in my record be sufficient evidence to prove a drastic change in my behavior because of a stressor.

ptsd Movie Coming Up On Hbo About Ptsd
I wasn't sure where to post this to get the most exposure. I caught part of a short movie titled "Wartorn 1861-2010" and executive produced by James Gandolfini, who played Tony Soprano, in "The Sopranos." I only caught about 20 minutes of it but it's on a couple of the HBO channels, on 11/27/2011, if anyone is interested. It looked fairly good, especially cuz there are some WWII vets interviewed in it. Sure makes me look look at Patton differently! jmo pr

ptsd Ptsd Va Socal Worker
Having a diagnosis with PTSD the VA issued a social worker to work with me rather than a psychiatrist. Why? I don't know. But I have been seeing the social worker for the last few years on a weekly basis. Having filed a claim for increase since the PTSD is worse and been to the C & P, the psychiatrist there said that I have severe, chronic PTSD, directly related to the military with a GAF score of 47. Will the social workers notes be accounted for since they aren't an actual "doctor" per se but they are still connected and issued by the VA?

I Put in my claim for ptsd in June 2010. 1-26-2011 it went to decision phase. Its been with the rating board for over a month now. Anyone had this issue? I did provide them with every document that wasn't in my c-file that supports my claim. I just really need some input. This is driving me nuts.

ptsd Ptsd Eval
Sorry if I stepped on someone toes here. I was saw it under PTSD section and added my question. SORRY. So here is my question again. I have received a letter from the VA with an appointment for a evaluation on PTSD. I know my last vist to the VA my Dr. asked me several questions about my tour in Viet Nam. I tried to answer the questions as honest as I cound. So what should I expect from the head doctor. I have read on here about other vets and their experiance. So I guess I am a little scared of what is going to happen. BTW I was a K9 handler in VN and a TUNNEL RAT when needed SO Any advice would be helpful. thanks, Hollis

ptsd Purple Heart For Ptsd
Hi everyone. I am the daughter of a deceased WWI vet. I have been trying for 30 years to obtain the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained as a POW. I have been continually turned down because I cannot produce a doctors statement of injuries. Well, I don't think he was treated by a Nazi doctor. I have produced everything else, including witness statements, but no luck, in fact they told me not to bother to reapply. I thought I remembered reading that they had changed the criteria for awarding the medal to veterans with PTSD just this September, but I cannot find a definitive answer after 3 days of searching. I have a paper that states he was declared 30% disabled due to a…

tdiu If It Does Happen... Who Can Help Us Understand Benefits
Got a letter from the DAV saying my TDIU was denied, but I was rated 100% P&T. A bit over a week later, much needed retro money showed up in my account. I am STILL waiting nervously for the actual letter from the VA.... I don't want to believe till I see it in their print. My wife writes the following.... * We started to look at some of the benefits he might want to take advantage of. He has health insurance, but his co-pay is prettty big. We have two children less than 23 who should be full time school next semester. Canceling our fed retiree health insurance for CHAMPVA would have them denied benefits from 24th birthday (instead of 26th due to Obama la…

ptsd Discharge Changes
I was asked an interesting question and wonder if anyone here would have the answer. If you were honorably discharged from service during OIF I and were exhibiting signs of PTSD before discharge, could you have your discharge changed to medical or medical retirement? What would you need to back up such a claim? If you are 100% SC for PTSD, does that help? I have read that you can have discharges upgraded if OTH, but was curious on this topic.
