100% TDIU - Permanent and Total: TBI and general Question
Hello all, Ever since suffering a cold knockout from a vehicular fall, and down the side of a levee/cliff during the invasion of Iraq (14-20 feet, directly on back of head: ACH was worn at the time, and NVG's [AN-PVS5's] were on my face.), I have had a variety of cognitive issues and total behavioral personality change. I am already 100% Permanent and Total (as the title says), and diagnosed with mTBI and PTSD, to which the majority of my award is granted towards PTSD. My LOC (Loss of Consciousness) was probably around 30 minutes if you consider me "coming to" briefly from time to time (being fireman carried by my TC, and then lifted by said TC, MOPP gear, M16 and …

Really concerned about referral
I knew it may be too good to be true to get a referral back into Neuro so soon... So I found out today, after short research on who I will be seen by, I'm being sent to a (less than) 2 star Neurology office in TN - with an MD with almost 40 reviews and his personal rating is a 2.8/5...Now I obviously may have a chance at a decent experience as every encounter I have had has been different. I don't expect to get a 5 star anything, but when a majority posts how you spend little time speaking with this individual, and how they scribble out information and attempt a variety of prescriptions...like, I know I gotta let them do their work, whatever that entails, and they sh…

Changes to TBI Ratings
CHANGE TO TBI RATING SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: This document proposes to amend VA adjudication regulations (38 CFR Part 3) by revising 38 CFR 3.310 to add five diagnosable illnesses as secondary conditions which shall be held to be the proximate result of service-connected TBI. Scientific Bases for This Rulemaking In the National Academy of Science IOM Report, Gulf War and Health Volume 7: Long-Term Consequences of Traumatic Brain Injury, the IOM concluded there was “sufficient evidence of a causal relationship” (the IOM's highest evidentiary standard) between moderate or severe levels of TBI and diagnosed unprovoked seizures. The IOM found “suffic…

100% P&T TBI/PTSD finally!
Finally got my rating after battling only 3 years. 60% in 6 months, then 190 total after one year. Thanks to The Ellis Clinic and Dr. Valette, they were able to get the ball rolling on my initial TBI and increase for PTSD claims. They also helped in several other key areas and claims. 5 total C&P's (3 TBI & 2 PTSD) by the VA and it all worked out in my favor. Combined with an additional 92% on top of the 100% also qualified me for SMC. Wasn't expecting that. What a relief. I hope it's all over and no more C&P's. But I won't let my guard down. I will keep seeking treatment for my issues. It does help. I still do work part time as well. I want to…

Migraines (Also Claimed As Tbi)
Hey everyone, I was going through all of the old threads on this forum and came across this, while doing some reading. After reading this post and its replies, I started to wonder about my TBI rating. Is this just another ploy to not include my disability in the TBI pocket like post-concussive syndrome? It is officially Migraines (also claimed as TBI) as written on my award letter. So does that include me in all of TBI or is this just a way to eval me at a lower rate (10%). It is in my current claim for an increase as the headaches have become much more violent and debilitating. But I started to wonder if there is something else I should have claimed having had …

TBI and headaches/vertigo/tinnitus
I asked for a copy of my C-file, and after a lengthy months long wait, I got it on DVD. I began checking the docs they have to the copies of the things that I'd sent. Of course there are missing documents. One of the documents they had, though, knocked my socks off. It's the report after my fall that snapped my neck at the C2 vertebrae. There's the time I was found and taken to the ER. And the time that I started the event before the fall that broke the neck. There's roughly an hour there, and when I do the math, it looks like I was knocked out for about 30 minutes or more. The C2 vertebrae is still broken and causes a number of issues: massive constant headaches,…
