ptsd Wrong Diagnosis?
I have a very complex case as I was diagnosed with Schizophrenic Reaction Paranoid type back in 1981-1982. I had fallen off my double-bunk bed a few days before complete with my ear gashed, I was e-vaced to a psych-ward and given mass amounts of anti-psychotic drugs Haldol & Cogentin just to name a few in my C-File my observing doctors could not come up with a prognosis either subdural Hematoma (brain-Injury) or psychosis. In my C-File it was decided that in view of suspicion if head injury continued observation of focal neurological sings was recommended but the psychotic diagnosis remained . My point is I feel that I was misdiagnosed & I have stated this in my …

Tbi Screening Gone Wrong...?
First time poster here. I just wanted to vent my frustration with my first tbi screening appt today. Background – I had a concussion during my drill weekend in late 2009 with very brief loss of consciousness (a few seconds) due to me slipping on ice and falling on my head. I was fine after 2-3 days. Fast forward to Nov 2011 in Afghanistan, I was involved in a really big IED blast, suffered a mild TBI. I got better in a couple weeks later. Came back to the sates in Jan, by early Feb 2012 I start getting worse symptoms, dizziness/vertigo, irritability, loss of coordination, loss of some memory, BAD HEAD ACHES over Left eye as well as constant neck stiffness with tension …

ptsd Reopening A Tbi Claim After A Year
5Hi everyone. This is my first post here and but I have been following some of the topics on the forum and have found a lot of useful info. SO right now Im rated at 60%, 30% for PTSD, 10% for tinnitus 10% for an ankle injury and 10% for a shoulder problem. I had claimed TBI from when my vehicle was directly hit with an IED, it was denied due to no evidence of a TBI existing. After the exam I was refereed to neurologist. I went to the neurologist and did the testing, this was back in 2008. I figured that I would have heard something or had some sort of follow up if I had TBI. Well anyways a few weeks ago I ended up pulling all of my medical info because I am meeting with a…

"awarded" 0% T.b.i. ?!
Hi all, I was given 10% for tinnitus and 0% rating for my T.B.I. that is documented but the examiner said that there were no "residual complications" as a result of the T.B.I. Stated that in my medical records the T.B.I. had resolved itself and that I was fine. This flies in the face of the fact that after this injury I had a dramatic shift in my moods, became severely depressed, had violent outbursts and even a suicide attempt. My T.B.I. occured in 1982 and after I left the service in 1984 I couldn't hold a job and ended up living on the streets in Mpls. until I went into a private treatment facility. I had no idea at the time that I could recieve any medical treatment t…

Generally, Errors Associated With Tbi Claims Processing
*** TBI Claims : The Department of Defense and VBA commonly define a TBI as a traumatically induced structural injury or a physiological disruption of brain function caused by an external force. The major residual disabilities of TBI fall into three main categories—physical, cognitive, and behavioral. VBA policy requires staff to evaluate these residual disabilities. Generally, errors associated with TBI claims processing resulted from the use of insufficient medical examination reports and inadequate quality oversight. My Va Records State Traumatic Brain Disease Before C&p, What Is Up?
My VA records which were in Oakland at the RO stated that I had service connection for Traumatic Brain Disease of 10% (8045) as well as Migraine Headaches 50% (8100) when I went to the C&P for the Migraines/head injury to increase that I was awarded previously as "8045-8100 Post concussive tension migraine." This had been in my records for years at the RO, but I was never given an award letter for the TBD of 10% (or paid for it). In the C&Ps that I went to the notations stated organic brain disease, and brain disease as being service connected. If I had been given that disability rating where is it at now? On the C&P notes to the C&P doctor is states th…
