Tbi C&p
I filed a claim over a year ago which the VA is still adjudicating for Menier's disease, although they all tell me they think it's Menier's disease they keep testing for other causes of my reported sympmtoms (i.e., migraines, etc). I received a call from the people handling my case stating that, after review, they feel my symptoms are indicative of a TBI and asked to file a claim for TBI on my behalf. I agreed. The problem is this; I'm a Viet Nam Viet and my head wound occured in 1968. I now have an upcoming C&P appointment for TBI and upcoming appointments with ENT for my pending Menier's claim (i.e., they have already awarded me 30% for labyrithisis but have agreed …

ptsd Your Thoughts Please
I wrote the VA about a RPG attack on my convoy which caused my head to strike the vehicle and chip my tooth. I didn't get any help. One day, which was 1 1/2 years after my letter, my PTSD doc asks me out of the blue if I ever had a head injury in Iraq and I told her about the RPG attack. She ordered a TBI examine for me and a sleep study. The TBI nurse does the examine and says I have TBI. She write a progress report that says my TBI was caused by my injury I suffered in Iraq. The sleep study was positive for severe OSA. My PTSD doc writes a report and says I have TBI, PTSD and OSA and they are related. I filed a claim for all three. This was done 7 years afte…

ptsd What Should I Do-Symptoms There..it's Been 39 Years And Vet Center Asked If A Claim Had Been Filed..
Rockman went to his first PTSD group on Tuesday. He will be doing his intake on 06/20/11. She met with Rockman in between the 2 groups to get some info from him. We had his med list and also his DD214. We have to take back his med list and say what each is for. She asked him if part of his percentage was for TBI and he said no. We did not know anythimg about TBI. He had a wound to the head while in Nam. He does have so many of the symptoms, but just felt it is what it is. I read somewhere on the VA site that your VA PCP was the one you needed to go to first. He has an appointment on 06/28/11 with his PCP. My question is: Should he go on and do an informal claim th…

ptsd Tbi Still Waiting
Been a long time since I been on here. I got the latest report for my TBI claim what do you think? I got a copy of my exam. The dr wrote Depression as a residual of TBI is as least as likely as not (50/50 probabilty) cause by or result of TBI caused by the fall in service Rationale for opinon given: He also has been depressed and under therapy for a extended period of time due to assualt in the military as well as behavorial and alcohol abuse in post service life makeing accurate diagnoise very complicated. The syptoms of PTSD as well as TBI are entertwined and over lapping and in this veterans case clouded from issues related to military experance and those i…

Tbi - 46 Year Later
During the TET OFFENSIVE (1967), My husband suffered head wounds from an RPG in three different areas: face (shrapnel still lodged), left cheek and back of head. His C&P reports dating back in the 1970s - tramatic brain injury was mentioned by examining medical attendent. He had to learn to reread, slowed mental ability, lack of concentration, emotionless... We didn't know the extent of his head injury until we received his C file or what TBI was He avoids everthing. Recently, he received 70% back to 2009 for TBI. We didn't claim it til recently but since it came up in the C&P exams, is there any way to get back pay? This was a war wound incurred in b…

Tbi Guide.
This guide will not directly help with the VA. It is free to download and the author reqests donations of $5 for those that can afford it. http://www.tbiguide.com/ I highly reccomend reading it for those that are somewhat new to mild to moderate TBI. I gleaned much more knowledge of my TBI from this guide than from any source, including professionals. It is meant to give insight and understanding to TBI sufferers and family members about their TBI. Mods, please consider adding this as a sticky. I reccomend this guide often here and must look it up to include a link everytime(my own tbi problems, lol) Thanks

Tbi Va Low Ball Help
I am rated by the VA for TBI at 40%. I have had a neuro-psych exam and the findings fit the 70% criteria. The VA rated me lower because of a finding of a learning disability referenced in my childhood doctors files. Yes this is what they used to give me a lower rating. I guess it amounts to a preexisting condition. I filled a NOD stating and referring to the exam. I believe the time as passed to file another NOD. I should have asked for help earlier but it is what it is. Is there anything I can do? Possible have another exam. Also the neuro exam that I refer to was privately administered and submitted by me with my claim. The VA never sent me to have an exam ot…

tdiu Infered Tdiu-Confused
I have read many postings regarding infered TDIU but am still not clear; here's my situation can anyone help? Rated 80% mid Feb. 2011... 70% TBI, 10% cognititve disorder and 5 other conditions at 10% each. Until joining HADIT, I knew nothing of TDIU, when I recieved the results of my claim I don't recall reading anything about infered TDIU etc... I did file for TDIU immediately after reading info from this site however; would I be correct in stating that the VA (Waco RO) should be working this matter regardless as to whether I filed for TDIU or not?
