BWNAO stay to be lifted
On Wednesday, January 1 ,2020. Maybe that will generate more news on the two Victories= Procopio and HR 299. I bet at least 95 % of all Blue Water Navy vets, with AO presumptives ( who might have been denied in the past for AO due to no BOG- as well as their survivors) and who fall into the 12 mile limit as explained in this article by NVLSP https://www.nvlsp.org/news-and-events/news-articles/nvlsps-faqs-for-blue-water-vietnam-veterans do not even know of this legislation yet. I sure hope the vet reps out there know of it.

Blu Water Navy- Agent Orange 12 mile coordinates
https://www.hillandponton.com/blue-water-navy-vietnam-map/ The map, to the right has a way you can put your Deck log coordinates in it to it to see if your ship was within the 12 mile limit per HR 299. If you have an Agent Orange Presumptive and fall within the 12 mile limit, do not hesitate to file the claim. Make sure you use the new VA claims forms. The VA will not extend the BWN claims stay.It will be lifted on January 1, 2020. This applies to Blue Water Navy AO widows as well.

TThe AO BWN and potential new presumptives Problem.
This article confirms the scuttlebutt I have heard on both of thse issues. U.S. Sen. Bob Casey partners on letter asking Trump administration to change policy delaying health benefits and disability pay for vets with illnesses linked to Agent Orange and other chemicals used during the Vietnam War. U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and a colleague have asked the Trump administration to reconsider a decision to not have illnesses linked to Agent Orange considered presumptive conditions for thousands of Vietnam War veterans. Casey, D-Scranton, and U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., sent a letter to Mick Mulvaney, director of the Office of Management and Budget, and Secretar…

Blue Water problems with getting deck logs-
It is a frustrating issue because the VA is going through past denials of thousands of BWN claims that hold a AO presumptive listed as NSC, whose ship was within the 12 mile limit ( HR 299) and the deck logs are being sent from NARA to the VA, as I understand this. But this case and many ( thousands just like it ), is why: The veteran claimed DMII due to AO exposure: The veteran had active service from April 1971 to February 1973. “FINDINGS OF FACT 1. The veteran's service on the U.S.S. Tolovana (AO-64) off …

A0 Hypertension More info
I was trying to find any other AO HBP awards at the BVA, other than the one I posted here, and it takes quite a bit of time to go through their decisions, regarding AO and HBP but I found many remands on this , and certainly feel that many veterans have a chance to get their HBP service connected to Agent Orange-particularly if the VA has deemed their HBP as "essential: There are quite a few claims at the BVA on remand for Hypertension due to AO exposure: “The February 2018 opinion is inadequate because subsequent to the opinion, the NAS moved hypertension from the “limited or suggestive” category and indicated that there is now “sufficient evidence” of an assoc…

Need HELP proving AgentOrange was on Okinawa 6/67thru12/68
I served in Okinawa from June 1967-December 1968 in the 412th Transportation Unit. I unloaded supplies from ships day in and day out. I got soaked with A.O. and other chemicals frequently, since many of the drums would arrive busted open or leaking! Not allowed to change uniform/shower. If there is anyone that was there(Okinawa) during those times, or even before or after, PLEASE respond. VA still insists A.O. was not on Okinawa! Thanks so Much, John48

More Blue Water Navy info from BWN
http://www.oldbluewater.com/ The archives there have been of great help to many and the two new site links are there as well. Please pass on to any Navy veterans you know, who served during the War, that if they have an AO presumptive ,and they serviced within the 12 mile limit of the coast, they will receive equitable processing as with all incountry Vietnam veterans, due to the momentous decisions that past tear ( Procopio and HR 299). If they were denied in the past for an AO presumptive due to no 'BOG', whether that VA decision was an award for something else, or a denial for the presumptive, the decision should contain a rating, as NSC for the denied …

Sub sailors and AO
I picked up something that indicated submarine crews might have been exposed to AO during the war, and in with John Rossie . John Rossie replied: "the VA has stated that BWN ships do not have to be surface ships. This was way back when we were setting up the Inland Water Ships List, the the statement was not meant to limit this to Inland Water travel. These were the guys from VBA at headquarters. I believe J. Wells verified that also, because we have had a lot of sub-sailors checking in with us. There were 6 or 8 in our original membership." Also John sent me this more recent letter from VBA as to th processing of NWN BWV claims: VBA Ltr 20-19-10 Pro…

The Myth of Blue Water Navy- by John Rossie BWNVVA
THE MYTH OF BLUE WATER NAVY BENEFITS 110,000 Carrier Sailors Left Behind There has lately been a lot of press coverage for the Blue Water Navy Vietnam veterans who did not step foot on the solid ground of Mainland Vietnam or any of its many surrounding islands. This matter concerns their VA Benefit eligibility for presumptive exposure to herbicides (Agent Orange) in Vietnam while serving aboard ships offshore in a variety of direct combat and combat support roles. They recently won a landmark court ruling and have had legislation (that had been kicked around the Legislature since 2007) finally passed and signed into law by the President. They now face an …

Updates BWN AO and potential more presumptives
"A recent ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims could accelerate adjudication of thousands of veterans' disability claims appeals, but only for cases awaiting certification from the VA. [more]" https://www.nvlsp.org/news-and-events/category/agent-orange Some cases at the BVA have already been granted. The fact that some BWN vets on appeal ,have found a large payment in their checking accounts recently from the VA ,tells me the payments are getting out faster than the award letters. This is not unusual, many of my awards came with a payment first and then the award letter arrived. I think the BWN vets who have already been awar…
