DRO -- Not the Outcome I wanted
Folks: I'm so thankful for the advice that I've received via the many experts from this board when I first filed my VA Claim. I learned a lot and the best thing I learned was that no one is going to care more about your claim than you do. At first, I was misguided and I relied on a VSO that was not really engaged, did not really care and seemed to only to want to "submit" the claim to get it on her books? But it was people like Berta, Asknod and several others of you that educated me to produce a solid claim that ended up at 90%. Anyway, now the second phase of my claim is to appeal 3 of the contentions, (Broken Big Toe, Broken Pinkle Finger and Severe Dry Inflammat…

changing information on a claim that is being processed
Hi, I have a question concerning my benefit claim. I have been diagnosed with Multi Myeloma, Hearing loss, chronic back pain, etc. I served in Vietnam on a blue water ship. Even though I was a Blue Water Sailor, my VSO insisted that I file my claim for AO, I received a letter from the DVA concerning my claim they want "evidence my ship was in the inland waterways of Vietnam or I went ashore, docked in Da Nang harbor" Yes, my ship( USS Hornet CVS 12) was in the territorial waters of Vietnam, and yes I have proof of that, deck logs. In doing the research for the information needed. I remembered being at Treasure Island in San Francisco. I was there for 2 month…

ptsd On Raters Desk... In The Appeal Process ... .?
Hi family, Happy New Year 2015 !!! I gave my first call to Peggy for the year and tried to find out what was the status of my 3 appeals... To bring everyone up to speed ( I have claims for ptsd, pfb,on one claim ... Recently denied in 2013 reasoning being I didnt have a diagnosis of ptsd. ( had diagnosis and IME supporting my claim) which was over looked. I was sent to a C & P for PFB in Oct 2014 which went well. The other appeals are from 2009) )). Peggy told me that my appeals are being worked together and stated the date when the VA received the c & p exam, that they were on the raters for the DRO desk waiting to be rated. Does anyone know how that works? …

tdiu Way Too Comfortable For Nothing
It seemed like a life time ago I posted what I thought was a success story for my claim of tdiu among other things, only to find out that that was not the case at all. I did go from 60% to 90% and I am thankful for that and also I do have a roof over my head. If you go look back at some of my posts I stated that the hearing judge pledged to do all she could to give me my benefits as far back as she could. My claim is back with her and ebennies says that she has had my file in her possession since the 17th of Jan. and she is working my claim. However, I learned that even if it says that it is with the administrative law judge ,does not necessarily means she is actually wo…

NOD/Appeal Submitted, Approved Now What?
My appeal to have my OSA service connected rating back dated to my original claim was completed in December. I've waited for the letter, but nothing. Just today I noticed that my effective date for the service connection on the OSA has actually been changed to 2004. I'm still waiting for the letter, but does that mean I'll receive back pay? I filed my initial claim two months after leaving active duty in 2004. The VA denied service connection because they did not have all of the information. I re-submitted for the OSA service connection, which they agreed was service connected but the effective date was 2014. I filed the appeal/NOD back in 2015 and it just now finished. …

Giving VA additional evidence
So after reading my decision letter again, I came upon the back of VA Form 4107 It states..... "GIVING VA ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE" "You can send us more evidence to support a claim whether or not you choose to appeal" "NOTE: Please direct all new evidence to the address included on our decision notice letter. You should not send evidence directly to the Board at this time. You should only send evidence to the Board if you decide to complete an appeal and, then, you should only send evidence to the Board after you receive written notice from the Board that they received you appeal". "If you have more evidence to support a claim, it is in…

tdiu DRO's decision made on the spot
Had my DRO face-to-face on 17 January, 2017. He approved BOTH my CUE, and my Permanent TDIU without hesitation. My understanding is that I will see the $$ in my account BEFORE the actual award itself. Any idea how long before I actually get the award-paperwork itself?

Camp Lejuene
My step father was in the Marines and unfortunately passed from leukemia three years ago. His primary duty station was Camp Pendleton; however I was told all Marines have to attend infantry school before their first duty station. I probably will have to visit a VSO to request his personnel records unless there is another way. Am I on the right path?

Treysnonna
How long on average is an appeal with the Vso. I know Bronco said his was with his Vso for 18 months. I believe that to be way to long.
