I mean, yeah, I know I'm housebound, essentially. I don't go off our property if I'm not with my husband or my daughter. I used to go to the post office by myself, but the post office lady I knew has been relocated, and there's a stranger in there now. I was forever in terror of breaking down and having to call a tow truck. My husband takes me to the store. He has PTSD as well, but with different, really different symptoms. He doesn't go out without me much, either. But more to the point... I understand housebound is part of the SMC. I have PTSD at 100% through TDIU, but my other conditions only add up to 20%. Does this mean my housebound-ness is not a separate …

i was wondering if smc has ever been awarded to a veteran that is not house bound yet, for an agent orange disease awarded at 100%, that has taken his/her quality of life away and his/her life expectancy is 5 years. GOD BLESS

I've kinda been expecting it! I even explained about the issue of using the "combined ratings table" illegally and enclosed reference to a BVA decision. So I'll be filing my appeal to the CAVC next week. I'm rated 100% + 20% + 10% + 10% + 10% + 10% which should be added together, for the needed 60%. Guess we need the CAVC to clarify the rule. pr

Wondering if anyone can answer this: Viet Nam Vet. Filed for SC prostate cancer February 2008. Filed for ptsd August 2008. Subsequently received 60% for prostate cancer residuals ( urinary problems ), and 50% for ptsd January 2010. I was given TDIU in October 2012 for a combination of both conditions. I had NOD'ed the ptsd within the 1 year limit and I have every reason to believe it will be increased to 70%. My question, in light of Bradley vs Peake and the other court cases is this: If the ptsd is raised to 70% effective August 2008, when I first claimed, and the 70% rating would by itself be enough for a TDUI rating effective August 2008, then would I be elig…

just heard from my dav rep that my request for smc for aid and attendance was denied. i don't know the va's rationale for this but i do have a question. i read online in a few different places that the va will not award smc for a&a if you are tdiu, that you have to be 100 percent on scheduler. is this true? my story is i am wheelchair bound because of my back (which is why the va awarded me unemployability) and my inflammatory arthritis. i had special monthly pension for a&a because my hands are deformed. the va has paid for me to have a nirses aide come to my house 12 hours a week to help me perform my daily living activities. she also wrote a statement on…

First off, I apologize for taking so long to composing this, and also for the length of this post. I felt it necessary to address issues, concerning this topic, of adding additional disability ratings in excess of 100% for SMC rating, instead of using the Combined Rating Schedule. Now, I will present it and ask if anyone sees any other issues, in respect to this topic, that needs to be addressed. My responses are in red. ********************* It is my contention that additional ratings over 100% should not be combined, using the Combined Rating Schedule, but should be added, according to 38 CRF 3.350. Thus a person …
