Hello I apologize for this post but need to ask. My father died in 2007 and was a WWII vet. He was not aware of and was not receiving his $300 a month wartime pension that begins at age 65. Is there any way that survivors can retroactively apply for this? He would have collected it for 18 years. I am a veteran. thanks

I was looking at the penstion rate table. I thought it was saying what the maximum amount of pension is but it seems that it was telling what the maximum amount of income you can have with your pension.......? I am trying to find out what a vet with 2 dependants and no hubby will get for pension and what is the maximum amount of income you can have and still get your pension. For example. If i have 1000 of income from ssdi how much pension will i get for a person with 2 dependants and no spouse. Thnx

I began receiving va pension in mid 2008. A few months ago I got a notice I had not filed for 2007. My husband had just died. So I filed and I just received a refund. Will this affect my va pension for 2010? I would never have filed, didn't know, just did what I was told. Should I report it or just send the check to the VA or may I count it as income for 2007, the year I was NOT on VA benefits? thanks for your help

I was awarded VA disability pension in 2004. A year later I was awarded 30% S/C for my disability. The issue I have here is in order to get VA disability Pension you have to be Permanent and Total. Why did the VA S/C me at 30% then instead of giving me 100% when they had already granted me my disability pension??? Doesn't make sense to me. Frank

My husband passed away 12/29/08 after fighting with VA for 5 years. He was still in appeal awaiting a decision when he passed. I have continued the claim on his behalf and am still appealing. I am faced with a difficult decision and do not know which way to go. I would be entitled to Social Security Survivors benefits when I turn 60 in August but it would only be at 70% for life which I believe will be about $630. I thought it would be better to apply for the Wartime Widow Death Pension with VA so I could delay getting Social Security until I reached full retirement age at 67. I was told it would probably take about 3 months to receive the VA pension. I filed in Au…

Hello--this is my first post on this board so I apologize up front if this has been covered already. My mother is the advanced stages of Alzheimer's and is currently living in an assisted-living facility for dementia. My mother has few financial resources and at cost of over $4K a month to live in a safe, secure care facility, we need all the assistance we can get. She is a widow of 5 years and my father was a USN vet who served during the Korean War. 17 months ago I applied for VA benefits just to end up in a seemingly endless VA nightmare of errors and claim denials. Exasperated, I finally turned to my Congressional rep in my district here in Palm Springs, CA. …

I was at a va psychiatric hospital and a VA representative filled out my claim for a disability pension. I had just lost my husband and I was in shock and grieving. I spent eight months in the psychiatric hospital and due to the medications I honestly don't remember much. Since then I have been an inpatient and an outpatient for almost three years. I have had many shock therapy treatments and my memory is shoddy to say the least. My question is if I was overpaid by the VA will I receive a letter of notification. Will the VA give me a chance to respond and request a way to make small payments to resolve the issue and will they allow me to request a waiver? OR wi…

I have been rated recently by the VA at 90% but, of course, I have a number of ailments, to include Sleep Apnea (50%), degenerative disc disease/my back 40% and PTSD 30% plus a series of ten percenters on each foot and hand. This is my question: YES, I understand I must get approved another disability at 50% in order to be rated 95%/per the charts so it will round up to 100% P&T. That said, does the rating of 50% have to be an ENTIRELY NEW disability on a NEW ailment or, for example, could I get an old rating "upgraded" from (PTSD) 30% to 50% or the bad back from 40% to 50% to accomplish this? WOuld that be enough to legally claim 100%? Which would be the be…
