Ilp
I received a phone call on 30 Jan from the San Antonio sub-office, of the Houston Regional Office. I was informed that they will approve an ILP for me. She went on to say that they must wait until they receive my Vocational rehabilation file from Georgia, before they can actually put anything in writing. I already had one period of ILP in 2000 when the va paid for a e-machine computer and printer, and three intro to computer classes. I lived in NC back then. When I lived in Killeen Texas in 2005 I requested another period of ILP due to worsing medical issues and I was approved for a new ILP. Before my ILP was drafted and put in writing I moved to Augusta Georgia were …

Has anyone successfully gotten an ergonomic chair through Voc Rehab?
I am trying to get an ergonomic desk/chair setup due to severe employment handicap. My voc rehab counselor says she has never heard of such a thing and she does not even know where to find a regulation on that. Just wondering if anyone has successfully gotten one and had some tips on ho they did it. It seems to me that should fall under special equipment, but want to make sure before I send her back the info cc her supervisor, regional director, and probably my congressman since she feels like it will take "months" for this to be approved :if she can figure it out" I'm in online classes, so they can't say the school should accommodate it. She first told me I n…

ptsd Voc Rehab Appointment Went Poorly
I had my Voc Rehab appointment today and it went pretty badly. The VR counselor was rude and condescending. He said I only had 17 months of allotted benefits out of a total of 48 so it was a waste of time to try for an associates degree and extensions are impossible. He also said he didn't think anything was wrong with me because I'm only rated 10% for PTSD and 10% for tinnitus. He said he was there to help vets that are "really" disabled like guys that have lost a leg. I told him that my PTSD counselor and case manager recommended I seek vocational rehab and get out of the medical field. He went on the say that my appeal attorney (PTSD rating increase, counselor, a…

Voc-Rehab "education Plan?"
Hello, Been a while since I've posted, and I spent a few hours trying to find the answers to my quesitions tonight. I do want to extend my thanks to T-bird, Berta, and all the Elders who support this site. Because of you I'm now rated 60% instead of 10%. Currently, I'm trudging the road toward Voc Rehab approval, and here is the situ. I finish my Accounting Degree in 8 months. I applied for VR in Nov to get my masters degree. Getting a CPA license now requires 150 college credits. The masters program starts Spring 2012; Fall 2011 in not realistic. Met with counselor. Dr. Cleared me for training. VRC told me to gather ALL the education info for getting…

Independent Living
I applied for Voc Rehab to get Independent Living to hopefully remodel bathroom from sunken tub to a walk in shower. Started out rather badly when I got an assessment letter and a group appointment. I got an email and told the Chancellor that all I wanted was Independent Living. They were pretty nice but I had to take all the tests. They made us watch a film and they had some scenarios where actors preteded that they were Veterans who were Service Connected and how Voc Rehab could help them. One of the scenes a Marine meets a buddy at a barber shop they recognize each other and now get this. He said he got out for medical after 16 years and VA Service Connected him …

Applying For Voc Rehab, While Working
I just applied for Voc rehab, and want to know what to expect. I work for the local VAMC, as a patient care provider, and fabricate devices that are often quite heavy. On a daily basis i lift heavy loads, pull materials, push metal rods and move heavy boxes. I on a daily basis lift patients, help them dress and work often for longer periods sitting which is uncomfortable on my back. I am 10% sc for DDD-L spine. My back is limiting what i can do at work and i am 31. i am concerned about how much longer i can continue in the profession i work in (also what i did in the military), i have never had another job. What can i expect from the meeting, and could i continu…

Unemployment And Vocational Rehab?
Does anyone have experience in being on Unemployment and being approved for Vocational Rehab? I was on State disability for awhile, my benefits ran out and I had to look for work. While not finding any, I checked to see if I could reopen my unemployment claim and to my surprise I could and have 60 weeks left with all the extensions... Am I able to recieve both benefits at the same time or does one offset the other?

What To Expect At First Vr&e Meeting After Assessment & Orientation.
Hello, I'm new. I understand this is a long post; so thanks in advacne to all who helpiong Veterans. I've recently signed a POA with a NSO with the DAV. He says I'm way under rated for my SC issues, and we are moving forward on increasing my claim. Previously, I gave up because the rating decisions were as ridiculous as the process. He also got me to apply for VR&E considering my plan to return to school to complete my degree. Recent economic misfortune, age, and SC issues are the catalyst. Recently, I relocated from SoCal to the Bay Area after losing a business in LA with my brother. That's another long ugly story. Most importantly after losing the busines…
