Vr&e Help - First Meeting Almost Perfect
I had my frst meeting last Friday. I was asked if I had any ideas about what I wanted to do and we talked about self-employment and answered bunch of questions regarding my self-employment plans, I took some tests, answered some questions about employability, my physical and mental issues, then was handed a letter saying I was "entitled". I have heard this is a big first step on a long road. I was then given a couple handouts. One being a "Self_Employment Fact Sheet" and the other a "VR&E VetSuccess Program Orientation Sheet". Most of my questions were answered pretty clearly. What wasn't is what do I do next? I asked that question directly three or four time…

ptsd Tdiu And Vr&e
Hello everyone, I am new here. I am currently rated at a total of 70%. 10% Back, 30% Migraines, 50% PTSD. I hired a lawyer to appeal the migraine and PTSD rating. When I hired the lawyer I was in my last semester of college under Chapter 31. I missed a lot of days, but was finally able to finish my degree about 2 months late.I am finished with the school part of Chapter 31. I am now in the job ready phase and have to report monthly with job search logs. The lawyer thinks I should apply for TDIU. I think I should too as I have extreme anxiety problems and migraines at least 1 day a week. I don't know what to do. If I do not get a job do I have to pay back all of the Chapte…

Cwt Program
I am a 40% sc veteran (30% for Severe Major Depression/Anxiety Disorder NOS). I have an education and work experience. However I have an extremely hard time finding and keeping a job. Most of my job experience is health care related. I was a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy. I get stressed out easily and get anxiety in work situations. I have had panic attacks and have had to miss work some. I have been fired for my poor work performance. I really want to do well at a job. I get along with my co-workers and I respect authority.(I don't mouth off at the boss and try to do what he/she assigns me) My problem is I get overwhelmed easy and make stupid mistakes or forget to do …

Ilp
I received a phone call on 30 Jan from the San Antonio sub-office, of the Houston Regional Office. I was informed that they will approve an ILP for me. She went on to say that they must wait until they receive my Vocational rehabilation file from Georgia, before they can actually put anything in writing. I already had one period of ILP in 2000 when the va paid for a e-machine computer and printer, and three intro to computer classes. I lived in NC back then. When I lived in Killeen Texas in 2005 I requested another period of ILP due to worsing medical issues and I was approved for a new ILP. Before my ILP was drafted and put in writing I moved to Augusta Georgia were …

Is This Vr Counselor Telling The Truth?
So I'm in an argument with a VA Voc Rehab Counselor. He/she claims veterans have an easy time getting what they want out of the program. Is she b/sing me? Here is the claim: 1) It is easy to change your counselor 2) It is easy for a veteran to change their IWRP goal, even if it requires more schooling 3) It is easy for a veteran to gain approval for an undergraduate and graduate degree, both 4) Proving the validity of a labor market forecast is not required, never has been 5) Retroactive induction is easy to get for disabled veterans prior to entry into VR&E

ptsd Vocational Rehab Or Ilp?
I am active duty Army right now going thru the MEB Process. I have had a VA claim in since July of 2011, which they are using to process my MEB. I went to my Voc Rehab counseling yesterday, took a few timed tests, and a few un-timed tests. Spelling math and what not. I have documented PTSD and I feel that I will be rated at least 80% if not 100%, along with TBI and cronic Migraines, lower back degenerative disc disease and a torn meniscus in my right knee.. I have a Masters Degree in Education, I will never be able to teach students, my temper, PTSD, and depression bouts will simply not allow it. So the question is, will the VA pay to have someone with a masters …

ptsd To Voc Rehab Or Not?
Hello All, History: My husband was awarded 50% PTSD back in July 2011. Part of the VA reasoning for not awarding a higher percentage was because he hadn't applied for SSDI or Voc Rehab. (BTW: I thought a veteran could only apply for Voc Rehab after they were rated, so using that reason for a lower percentage is ridiculous.) As a result, my husband filed for an increase (we were advised that an appeal would take forever) which included a strong medical opinion for 100%. The claim is in development, and the VA has added many of the previous claim documents to the file such as the application for TDIU, personal statements etc. At the same time as filing the claim for …

Information....
I want people to know that if you are using Chapter 31 benefits and come to the point in your life where you know you need to stop then stop. Don't play the games with yourself in thinking you can keep going because it will hurt you later on. I started College in June 2010 and today I finally had to stop going and drop my classes. A person can only take so much pain and once that pain reaches at that high point it will affect your thinking, memory and being able to retain things. I had 3.8 GPA all the way up the last July. Right before this my lower back went out in June and I ended up at the ER. Already having to deal with radiculopathy in my arms and pectorial muscles i…

ptsd Independant Living And Lawn Tractor Denial
I am currently in the Independent Living services program for he second time. First time was in 2002 and at that time I had a rating of 70% PTSD with unemployablility and unrated peripheral neuropathy. Part of my program then provided me with a small lawn tractor so I could continue taking care of my home property. Since then I have been through stage IV Mantle-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Hyper C-Vad Chemo treatments. The physical effects of both have greatly reduced my physical condition. I can no longer do the activities I used to cope with the PTSD and life in general so I reapplied for the Independent Living Service program for a second time and was approved…

ptsd Self-Employment Track
I'm currently receiving SSD and Disability Retirement. SSD is for a combination of service connected PTSD 50% and Back which is non-service connected. My Back is what I receive Disability Retirement for from the post office. My total VA rating is 80%. I had a claim in for IU, but was recently denied. The VA stated I have not been found to be unemployable. While I'm going through the appeals process, I applied for Voc-Rehab. My initial meeting with a VRC is the 8th of January. I have a very strong passion for music and wanna follow this dream I've had since childhood. I am a writer, producer and performer. I've invested a lot of money in music equipment, and curre…

Voc-Rehab "education Plan?"
Hello, Been a while since I've posted, and I spent a few hours trying to find the answers to my quesitions tonight. I do want to extend my thanks to T-bird, Berta, and all the Elders who support this site. Because of you I'm now rated 60% instead of 10%. Currently, I'm trudging the road toward Voc Rehab approval, and here is the situ. I finish my Accounting Degree in 8 months. I applied for VR in Nov to get my masters degree. Getting a CPA license now requires 150 college credits. The masters program starts Spring 2012; Fall 2011 in not realistic. Met with counselor. Dr. Cleared me for training. VRC told me to gather ALL the education info for getting…

ptsd P&t Plan May Have Backfired
I am 100% due to IU. Overall, 70% PTSD, 40% TBI and 10% hearing. Despite that, I filed for Voc Rehab recently. I did all the testing, filed an education/rehab plan, got accepted into American Public University (Bertha graduated from its sister university, American Military University) and got a buch of credits transfered, and am scheduled for a follow-up meeting next week. From everything I can sense, it looks like my counselor is going to approve me for the program, despite all the crap I read in various places that say you can't be TDIU and go to Voc Rehab. Some people would say I'm playing a dangerous game-that once I get into school the VA could drop my IU based…
