Suspend Training
I have a counselor that is very hard to work with. I really need some good hands on training. My counselor sends me to a school that is not providing training and don't provide employment help. I have been talking with a local job service VA rep. He informed me that there is a project called VRAP that provides training and pay in much needed jobs. Can I just suspend my training with VocRehab and try for VRAP. I am not getting paid from VOCRehab. I need help. Thanks

Change In Subsistence Allowance Rules?
I've been in voc rehab attending college since 2009. I have received subsistence from August through May with no interruptions... until now. I've been informed that subsistence will no longer be paid during the period of time between semesters, that is, if the first semester ends December 15 and the second semester starts January 10 then those 25 days are no longer subsidized. I can find no documentation for this change. Does anyone know if this is in fact the way subsistence will be handled from now on?

How To Change My Education Plan
I would like to know has anyone ever changed their education track? I had a very stubborn counselor and he is very hard to work with. I tried to go with the business track but he wants me to take certain classes at a certain college. I have been doing some of the training and it is not for me. Is it possible to get a new plan or am I stuck? Thanks

Returning To Work Or Not
I am 100% T&P disabled for 20 plus years. I paid for a Masters program out of my own pocket and finished a program 3 years ago. As hard as I try, I cannot find work. I have been mostly trying in the federal governement because I will loose my Social Security benifits (eventually) when I am gainfully employed. (income security is important to me) I completed my bach degree in the 1990's under Voc-rehab chapter 31. Can I and should I apply for the program again. I don't want to return back to school (I am 46) but I need assistance getting employment. My resume has a lot of empty air. Is the Chapter 31 program a good thing or just trouble for a guy in my situati…

Master's Degree Subsistence For Full Time?
Hello, I had no luck scanning the info in this section for "how full time subsistence" is determined for a Graduate Degree. Six units at my school is considered full time, and I'm getting 3/4 subsistence. I could use the extra few dollars, as my claim is in the R.O. black hole. Can anyone point me directly to the Voc-Rehab Manual the Counselors use? I'd like to point directly to the "authoritative literature" when I email my counselor. On a side note. I find every agency, person, and department I deal with to be very accommodating when I can "cite the legal authority". It's very powerful, since they can't argue with laws passed by Congress. Happy Memoria…

Memorandum Rating Taking Forever
I applied for a memorandum rating which is what you need while you're going through the MEB process to get the ball rolling on applying for the Voc Rehab benefit. All they need to do is look at your application and determine whether you will get 20% or more then you get this memorandum rating and that allows you to apply for Voc Rehab while on active duty and going through the MEB process. That way, when you get out, you will be ready to start school immediately. When I applied, I was told that it should take about 2 weeks to get an answer and it has been over 2 months! Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any ideas as to how to resolve this other than calling the…

Voc Rehad
VR&E would be a great program if these counselors knew what the hell they were doing and actually cared about the veterans they work for. Let me explain what's going on. Each month I received 889.17 with the exception of breaks in between terms. My counselor sent me an email about 2-3 weeks ago stating I was entitled to more money and back pay since OCT 2011 because of the VR&E's Post 9/11 Subsistence Allowance rates. She told me to sign the form and mail it back to her. Which I did. Well I researched the VR&E's rates on the internet. I came across a form with the rates on the VA's website. That also stated: "Training in foreign institutions and training th…

Voc Rehab Called Me Today
After four years the new Voc Rehab Officer who has been very nice to me called and said a new bed has been ordered and I should get it soon. Its not here but sounds like we got it. Don't give up no matter how discouraged you are with any claim. Things change and so do people. I have had four voc rehab officers. I am pretty sure they are going to turn down the a/c that was recommended but I will probably appeal that. So don't forget to have an open mind and don't be afraid to ask for stuff cause they do have a budget ot 25,000 for each Veteran they qualify. They won't tell you. The reason for Independent Living is to keep a Veteran in their home. Also a Veteran…

Changing Vocational Rehab Counselor
How do I change my current VR&E Counselor? This is what the whole thing is about. Plus other various small reasons of why I want to change counselors. It clearly states it in black and white. Am I reading this wrong: http://www.vba.va.go...oc/sa_rates.pdf Scroll down to page four. The very top paragraph; last sentence states: "Training in foreign institutions and training that is solely on-line or in-home will be based on the national average BAH." All of my training is currently on-line and I never leave the house. Not for school anyway. I get paid about $900. However, the National Average is roughly $1300. Obviously a HUGE difference. So, my question is sh…

Living Abroad On Vr&e
I am currently enrolled in an online university and EVERYTHING is done online. Obviously! I can access the course from anywhere in the world and I absolutely love the idea that I can obtain a degree and never leave my house. It's pretty cool. Anyway, I have had some time to think. I am working toward a Bachelor's degree in international business. I believe learning a second language would be beneficial. Spanish. I have considered relocating to Central America because it is EXTREMELY cheap and the quality of instruction is amazing. One-on-one for about $2-$3 per hour. It is an immersion program. I would stay for about 8 weeks. Can I still be enrolled in the program and li…

Unemployment And Vocational Rehab?
Does anyone have experience in being on Unemployment and being approved for Vocational Rehab? I was on State disability for awhile, my benefits ran out and I had to look for work. While not finding any, I checked to see if I could reopen my unemployment claim and to my surprise I could and have 60 weeks left with all the extensions... Am I able to recieve both benefits at the same time or does one offset the other?
