Can I File A Claim For Persian Gulf War Syndrome/gwi / Gws?
Hello everyone, I'm wondering if it's possible for a vet to file a claim for illnesses related to the Gulf War Syndrome. Anyone have experience with this? I'm currently 60% but have long ignored GWI symptoms. Any help would be great.

Recent Update On Gwv Illnesses
http://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/gulfwar/ In part: “A prominent condition affecting Gulf War Veterans is a cluster of medically unexplained chronic symptoms that can include fatigue, headaches, joint pain, indigestion, insomnia, dizziness, respiratory disorders, and memory problems.” “VA does not use the term “Gulf War Syndrome” when referring to “medically unexplained chronic multisymptom illnesses” reported by Gulf War Veterans. Symptoms vary widely and therefore, do not meet the definition of a syndrome. A syndrome is a group of symptoms that usually occur together and characterize a certain disease or abnormal condition. That is why VA uses the term “me…

Time For Rating For Gws?
It's nearly a year now since IRIS told me that my claim had been received and sent to the rating board, but no action since then. Is this typical for other people's claims also? Or is mine "stuck" in some way?

Gw Research & Treatment At Puget Sound Va In 1999
I took my Gulf War Registry exam at the Puget Sound VA hospital (Seattle) sometime in 1999. The hospital recruited me for participation in a treatment research project that lasted six or seven months. I attended weekly group sessions with a psychiatrist that focused on experimental treatment for chronic fatigue and difficulty sleeping. I was also subject to a series of treadmill stress tests as part of the research. The record of my participation in this program is missing from my VA medical records. Since I was being treated for chronic fatigue and sleep disorders, those records are valuable to me as evidence for my current compensation claims/appeals. So I hav…

Children With Gulf War Syndrome
Hi, my husband served in Operation Desert Storm in the Army 1 Cav div headquarters for 2 months in the desert is all he remembers (doesn't remember what dates). We have 2 chhildren who have been diagnosed with a rare neurological pain syndrome called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, and fibromyalgia. My husband says he did not receive the vaccination they say causes GWS. He does not have any symptoms, but our children do. Do you think it is possible they have it if he doesn;'t, and if there is anything we can do?

Desert Storm "baby" Syndrome?
I just found this site, after several years of frustration. I'm hoping someone out there has some common ground here. My husband served with 2ACR in 1991. Our son was born 10 months after his arrival home. He's now 17. As a baby, he seemed to have strange "seizures" that were never diagnosed, and lung problems. About age 3, he "outgrew" it all, but I recall seeing then in the Stars and Stripes an article about possible problems with DS kids, esp. their lungs and 'strange neurological problems'. Of course, I cannot find it now. About age 13, he started to have problems with pain in his legs. Doctors first passed it off as "growing pains"; soon after it developed…

Fibromyalgia Flare-Up
I haven't posted in a while but I would like to ask a question. I am currently service connected for fibromyalgia at 20% and irritable bowel syndrome at 10%. I have filed for a NOD for both conditions which is currently with the DRO at the Regional Office in St. Pete, Tampa. I had a terrible flare-up of fibromyalgia and had to go to the emergency room two days May 5th and 6th. Today I called the 1-800 number and told the representative that I wanted the emergency room notes to be submitted as new evidence in support of my NOD. I also have had to go to the emergency room for fibromyalgia other times throughout the appeal process. My question is, if I have continued to have…

Wriisc
Greetings all! Has anyone out there been to the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) that can share any information? I have a Vet who is seriously considering attending for Gulf War Illness related conditions and am trying to help gather as much information as possible. Her concerns include: What is the average duration of stay? How effective are they in educating and assisting Veterans dealing better with their illnesses?Has anyone had their service connected disability percentage adversely effected by participating? Are they actually acknowledging and dealing with conditions better than standard VA Primary Care physicians? Can a Veteran receive any c…
