ME/CFS- Gulf. Service connection without presumption
We are currently in the process of applying. In the three steps we have perfect for 1 and 3 but struggling with the service connect. We have the diagnosis moderate/severe with many doctors over many years, almost textbook. We have a timeline And progression that clearly points to something happening during the summer/fall of 2002. I’ve been declining/progressing for over a decade until the point if severity. I had to leave my full time job in the summer of 2018. The issue, and my question, is that in reading anything on ME/CFS or Gulf the VA tends to go on presumption of being in the gulf but medical research shows that there are much stronger theories that d…

Nexus letter for Hives due to Toxic Exposures
Hello all. I am seeking any knowledge or advice on my current claim. I conducted a video conference with a law judge on October 11th, 2019. I am seeking a claim for chronic idiopathic urticaria(hives) that I've been battling for close to 28 years. I conducted (2) Persian Gulf War clinical studies and evaluations at Walter Reed back in the early 90's. The file acknowledges that I have this chronic illness but I lack a nexus letter or imo. The judge found my testimony to be very credible and identified a treatment for dermatitis while I was in service. I also sought medical treatment on the private side, Dermatologist, immunologist, and internist, with the same chro…

Re-Opening a 2016 GWI claim - Fibromyalgia DBQ
So, before I knew much about the VA and their love for vets, I submitted my first GWI claim. I filed for symptoms (Stomach issues, sleeplessness, bi lateral arm/shoulder pain, short term memory loss). I had a forgetful C&P doc, I had no idea beforehand what the eam was for, I was nervous as shit and I didn't know enough to press him on examining other issues. I went 26 years without touching the VA and here I was at a C&P exam. I was rated 30% for IBS, all other contentions denied because dr said I denied having any other issues. This week I was diagnosed by a family practice NPC with fibromyalgia, they ordered bloodwork to exclede Rheumatoid Arthritis a…

Fibromyalgia
I served in the Persian Gulf during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I have been recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia/ Myofascial syndrome by two seperate nurse practioners one of them being my primary care provider and the other in the pain clinic. My primary care provider filled out a Disability Benefits Questionnaire where she stated by pain was not responding to treatment and that her opinion that it was least as likely as not related to my service in the Persian Gulf and exposure to possible environmental causes. I have filed a claim with my VSO and still waiting on a decision. My primary care provider has completed all the blood work to rule out other causes such…

Gwi Approved, Migraines Denied
Hello All, Here's the background on the claim for fellow GWI vets, and some questions... I recently received the approval on the first claim for GWI, awarded 30%. This was an FDC that I filed with assistance of a VSO, so there were likely some errors made in the initial application. (I hadn't found this site yet and have since learned the error of my ways...) But at the end of the day it's a win, with 2 1/2 yrs of retro. No big payday though, as I have to pay back a tidy little sum of SSB from 20 yrs ago. VERBATIM from the Decision Letter: "Gulf War undiagnosed illness to include dizziness, short term memory loss, impaired gait, loss of balance and …

Questions on new gulf war claim
Sorry in advance for length of post. Getting ready to file: Gulf War 1 vet. Have diagnosis and VA DBQ form from Civilian Dr for Fibromyalgia. Also looking to file for PTSD, Tinnitus and flat foot (flat foot issue happened in basic, figured toss it in). Only have diagnosis for Fibro. Is it ok to file pending the VA med/psych exams for the others. Also, I have severe insomnia issues that are a combination from pain from the fibro, nightmares assoc with the PTSD issues and old fashion staring at the walls for hours insomnia. Can/Should I file for insomnia secondary to the Fibro and/or PTSD now or wait until when/if the other items are approved first? Thanks for any advice!

Lipoma, Dercum’s Disease, Adiposis Dolorosa, Fatty Tissue Rheumatism, Juxta-Articular Adiposis Dolorosa, Lipomatosis Dolorosa Morbus Dercum's
To all of my Sisters and Brothers with this disease. For all of those who have fought this in the past, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I wanted to get this out as I am in my appeal stage and just realized the verbiage on this has changed and the diagnostic code to better address the issues. The diagnostic code I was given is 7819-7821. The Skin Basic Rating System The Basic Rating System below is used to rate many (but not all) of the skin conditions on this page. Find your condition first to see if it is rated under this system. It is vital that you understand how the VA defines systemic and topical treatments in order to determine your corre…
