Help Understanding Presumptive Illness Due To Gwi
Hello all, I am currently appealing a decision on a claim. I am a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer in November of 2013. It was found to be the result of prolonged GERD, which also caused Barrett's Esophagus, Hiatial Hernia and dysphasia. I have since had an Esophagectomy. My entire esophagus was removed in February 2014. I had also gone through Chemotherapy and radiation therapy prior to the procedure. I filed my claim with my local VSO. I retrieved all the necessary documents from my doctors and surgeons. I currently take medications so I can eat that cause side effects that limit my ability to work. My employer has since placed me on long …

Mycoplasma Testing
Hello my fellow veterans, I am trying to conduct a survey as to how many Gulf War veterans have tested positive for Mycoplasmas. The survey at this time will be limited to the first Gulf War veterans (pre 9/11 vets) that tested positive or may not even no that they may have the Mycoplasmas in their system. I have not figured out how to conduct the survey yet but I will be open to any suggestions and responses to see how this all pans out. Back in the mid 1990's the VA conducted Study #475 at Hines Hospital in Illinois. I was one of upwards of 1000 veterans that tested positive for one or more of the Mycoplasma species. I tested positive for three Mycoplasma species. …

Headaches / Migraines - Denial
I was recently denied for headaches, migraines as I filed for undiagnosed symptoms. The explanation in my denial letter states as follows: I claimed it was a migraine. But I am not a medically trained person. It is a sever headache though. Isn't headache a presumptive noted in 38 C.F.R. § 3.317(b)(3)? Or did I shaft my self in stating it is a migraine in the DBQ? I am not being treated for migraines. I am unsure why as I have been mentioning them for 3 years now since going to the VA. I have attached the DBQ from my recent C&P. Headache_DBQ.txt

Possible Nod - Questions Fibromyalgia
I just posted my success story in that forum. To recap, I have been awarded 80% total. I was granted 0% for Fibro. Reason is this as stated on my award letter. I have complained of all the problems to my PCP and the C&P doctor (who was actually a PA not a doctor.) My DBQ for the fibro has been attached to make the reading of this post easier. The only issue I can se is that the reason I was only granted 0% was because I wasn't receiving treatment or therapy for it. Reason I have not received therapy is that no one would diagnose me with anything. I am pasting this portion. b. Is continuous medication required for control of fibromyalgia sympto…

Claim On Gwi, Response From Va
I had filed claims with the VA. Some were new, and some claims were to reopen certain claims. This was almost one year ago. Recently, I received a letter a letter from the VA. It mentions they are still working on my claim, but need more information on GWI. What do we still need from you? We need evidence showing that the following conditions existed from military service to present time: Body rash, joint pains, diarrhea, chest/stomach pains, all due to GWI. The letter goes on to state.........you have claimed exposure to an environmental hazard based on your service during the GW. We can take no action since you did not claim a specific disability. Tell us your spe…

Vadir Has Sandbox Days Wrong
Hello Everyone, As I visited the OEF/OIF clinic to register for the GWI & Burn Pit, my dates for my sandbox travels (and other deployments) are wrong. When I asked how I can correct these, the answer I received was "You can't, those are the dates supplied by the DoD". Well I know where I was & when I was there, and so do many other people, like my family & friends, uhhh... those I was there with. Also, I have entires in my records stating otherwise that document the different times those jackwagons tried to blow us up, the five-star living conditions we had and all the excellent exposure while we visited start to finish - all days BOG etc. etc. etc. Ju…

Issues After 15 Years?
Hi there. I am new to the site. Been reading a lot of very interesting info. I ETS's back in 92 for a family hardship. I had begun having problems then but my bigger concern at the time was my family's well being therefore I hadn't thought much more of it. Issues had been prevalent especially the IBS which is sometimes more debilitating than the fatigue and soreness. I had never thought of GWI, but knew something wasn't right. I had been able to compensate for a lot of my pain via exercise when I was younger but once I turned 35 my health began to rapidly decline. Sadly I have an extreme phobia of doctors and hospitals. 2 or 3 years ago I read that the Gulf W…

For Soldiers With Gulf War Illness, A Clue To The Mystery In Their Cells
Just Part of the Story. http://www.newsweek.com/sick-soliders-gulf-war-illness-clue-mystery-their-cells-238850 Experts suspect a variety of toxins could be linked to Gulf War Illness—from pesticides to the anthrax vaccine—but one likely culprit, Golomb says, is something that wasn’t an enemy weapon, or even an accidentally released chemical: the PB pill. The PB pill was given to troops by the U.S. Armed Forces in case of possible exposure to nerve agents—it was a preventative. The cure may have made them sick.

Gulf War Illness & Neurological Disorders
Just wondering if anyone has a good list of what exactly is considered to be a Gulf War related neurological condition? I've seen ALS, Parkinson's, and a couple of others. Reason I'm asking is that I wonder if my TIAs and cerebral thromboses could relate back to my deployment to Operation DESERT STORM? I never considered myself someone who had or would have the Gulf War Syndrome that was all the talk some years ago. I was on a Navy warship in the Red Sea for a few months supporting DESERT STORM a while after the major active combat ceased. Now I have what have been diagnosed as TIAs, very difficult migraines, and pretty consistent tingling and numbness on various …

Khamisiya Asp Demolition Mar 91
Has anyone used the exposed units listing from the Khamisiya incident as part of their VA disability claim? I was with HHT 3ACR (USAF contingent). I witnessed some of the biggest detonations ever! Well I have muscle/joint pain, twitching/spasms, headaches/migraines, memory/concentration problems, and only two molars left on the lower jaw. My spine feels twisted and out of its normal curvature. I know it's neurological and an fMRI would prove me right. If anyone has a response, please do. Thanks to all my brothers and sisters. God Bless!

Top Veterans Affairs Official Questions Use Of Term 'gulf War Illness'
Top Veterans Affairs official questions use of term 'Gulf War Illness' Source: MilitaryTimes.com Apr. 22, 2014 - 02:51PM That potentially explosive news was contained in an email sent by an IOM staffer to panel members who made the recommendation, including chairman Dr. Kenneth Shine. A copy was obtained by Military Times through a third party and later verified as genuine. In the email, the IOM staffer said Allison Hickey, VA’s undersecretary for benefits, questioned the use of “Gulf War illness” rather than the VA-favored “chronic multisymptom illness” in a briefing on the report, “Chronic Multisymptom Illness in Gulf War Veterans.“ Hickey “was concerned that cha…
