I am 100% IU PT, I had the same neuro, psychiatrist, dentist, gyn, etc. for over 10 years. In the last 6 months my psychiatrist transferred, my gyn retired, my dentist mysteriously left and today I went on secure messaging to send my neuro a message about the pain clinic and I am no longer able to message her. I do have a new neuro in my drop down menu in secure messaging so I am thinking she left too. This is extremely frustrating and anxiety inducing for me. I still ahven't seen a new psychiatrist since mine left in Jan., the wait was so long they sent me to a pharmacist to renew my meds and I will see the new psychiatrist in July! I now have to drive 3 hours each w…

Hi, new to the forums. I wish I had know about this before I filed my claims. Anyway, I have chronic shoulder and neck pains that are documented in my medical file. I got denied "service connected" on it and now I'm wondering if I can still get 'help' from the VA or do I need to go to a private medical insurance. I'm a twice deployed OIF vet and I was told I had 5 years after discharge for coverage. The VA representative said that 5 years applies to ANY symptom -I- think is service related. Also, I'm rated in 'Priority 1', does that mean I get coverage without co-pays for ANY condition or only conditions that are service connected? Basically, ten years…

Does anyone know if there is an actual CHAMPVA website where you can look up status of claims and so on? I've searched in vain . The only thing I have is the 1 800 733 8387 phone line. It sure would be helpful .

Has anyone had any luck being referred to one of these centers? Are you better off trying to get fee based care outside the VA?

Learning my way around the VA medical system and getting my feet wet after my recent decision. So far I have been getting B+ service. My question is this. I went to the VARO two days ago and did a face to face meeting with a information officer, which I also took to be the "Authentication" I needed to do in order to get the "P" on my healthevet and be able to begin to do such things as view an upcoming appointment. While at this meeting, I signed various papers and an initial appointment was made to meet my primary care Dr, and get me going. The appointment is for 4/14. The information officer told me when I come back in the 14th, I should come a little early so …

I see a Neurologist, in the Pain Clinic. I asked to see a Neurosurgeon, because the muscle pain under my shoulder blade. The Neurologist, said that if he referred the Neurosurgeons would laugh at him. Basically, there is scar tissue, and sevre muscle knots, and trigger points, which I get injections for. I take pain meds, but the muscle pain is not getting better. My spine pain is managed with pain meds. I want to get a specialist to gut this muscle, nerve block, or something. I can't keep on like this? The Patient Advocate is no help.

VAMC Martinsburg WV in Complete and Total Disarray - Updated Let’s begin at the entrance. There is never a guard at the entrance checkpoint and there hasn’t been one in years. With anyone able to come and go as they please there is significant drug dealing being done at the facility. You constantly have inpatients who are supposed to be restricted to post testing positive for illegal narcotics. There have been patients living on post in transitional housing overdosing. Numerous employees who work at the facility have been arrested for possession and distribution charges. Inpatients who are following the rules can’t get all the help they need. You c…

When I check my notes after a visit to my PCP in My HealtheVet, I have noticed a few times where the notes she writes are nothing we have talked about and some are wrong. Is there a way to amend my VA medical records. I have already submitted a change of provider request but I am wondering if it is even possible or something I should just talk to my new provider about? In my notes from January 14, 2016 my PCP wrote "NOTED HIS CLINICAL EXAM WITH NOT MUCH FINDINGS BUT C/O ARE OUT OF PROPORTION". How could she put something like this in my notes? How is it acceptable to write this and in all caps? She doesn't know my pain level or how many times I use the bathroom ever…

We all know the game VA plays with Dr. appointments. I recently was told that our local VA clinic that normally has 3 doctors to handle a load of 1400 vets is now down to 1 Doc. who just happens to be my PCP. They are killing the poor Dr. and she is ready to move on. I had a conversation with another DR. who told me that the VA will not follow thru with promised benifits ( what else is new? )

My husbands doctor put a request in for physical therapy for him 6 weeks ago. Because we live far from the VA hospital, he was bounced into the Choice program for this so he could get PT in our town. We are still waiting for an appointment. The last time he called the Choice center, he was told that he was approved, but they are waiting the consult to be uploaded into the system, whatever that means. He was then told he could call the Patient Services Representative. Who the heck is that and how do we find them?
