Link to site The landmark federal GI Bill has provided education benefits to veterans since 1944. Today, every state offers some sort of tuition benefit for members of its National Guard units. But with more Guard members deployed to combat zones since 9/11, many state legislators are looking for ways to help them and other recent veterans. State benefits typically are available only to those attending state-supported institutions and who meet certain academic requirements. Highlights of recent developments:

Not sure how this will work, but you might get a 4th year (3 years under the 9/11 bill) of benefits if you were originally eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill. https://www.militarytimes.com/education-transition/2024/04/16/supreme-court-rules-in-favor-of-veteran-who-sued-over-gi-bill-limits/

I was recently overpaid by the VA since they were switching from paying the school to paying us directly, which I guess resulted in that overpayment. Thing is, I was also getting my Pell Grant + my usual BAH so I assumed that was all mine. I'm currently experiencing some housing turbulence while I go to welding school and im in debt, so i immediately used it to pay off my credit card.. I'm not sure if anyone here has gone through the process of requesting a VA waiver, but I would sure like some help.. thanks!

I have started a petition on change.org to get a law changed that applies to how all of our veteran's benefits are calculated. I signed up for this website to share this, and believe this is the correct forum for this. There is no money to be made from this petition by me, and it costs nothing to support it. The purpose is to try to bring awareness to this issue. I am hoping you will support and sign this if you agree. If you do not, please feel free to help me, help us. The VA’s annual compensation adjustment doesn’t account for the previous OR upcoming year, it is only inflation-correct on the first day of the new year. It doesn’t account …

I suffer from ptsd and panic attack so I got flight insurance to protect me from losing money.I got Delta’s flight insurance and before flight three days, they were discussing how a former federal whistle blower was saying how it wasn’t safe to fly doing holiday, as day was getting closer my attacks got worse, I cancel my flight but Deltas Allianz insurance said my panic attacks weren’t cover-under the policy. As a veteran I am disappointed and asking for help from the Hadit community about what should I do. I. Appealed their decision. Thanks

What does the G. I. Bill pay these days? When I was using the G. I. Bill back in the early 1970's I got $320 a month to pay for tuition, books and living expenses. This was a joke even then, so I had to work 20-30 hours a week and take full time classes. WW11 vets got much more than Vietnam Era vets. So even vets have to beg for Pell grants and get loans.

Right then, this is perhaps a curiosity question. After 13 year of retirement, someone mentioned to me about the Foreign Medical Programme. Never heard of it. Applied back in May and learned today that I was accepted. I had to ring Peggy to learn this, mind. The letter was sent on 1 June, but have yet to receive it. I knew from day one of my retirement that I had no dental coverage as I chose to live in Europe. With the FMP, it's near on the same. The only coverage that the FMP offer is the disabilities listed by the VA. I've come to accept the limited medical coverage I receive due to my location of choice. But I am wondering why this is? Do any of you …
