Bath to shower conversations
I recently moved to a (partial) handicap apartment, it has one bathtub. If owner/management would allow a tub to shower conversation at my expense! I’m 72, spouse is 62, I’m 100% P&T with the VA. My wife is also severally disabled as well, she can’t stand more than a few minutes - both of us are very high risk of falling and unable to get up without assistance. Will the VA allow expenses for a converstion?

PACT or not PACT, or doesn't it matter?
I'm in my 60s, rated at 80% but the VA has me TDIU, so I am already being paid at 100%. I'll try to explain the details as best I can. I have a TBI so I can rattle on at times... Last summer I spoke to my VA doctor about the fact that most of the people I worked with in the service are now dead and how half of them died before they were 50. Lots of cancers and tumors. I also had prostate cancer (none ever in my family) as well as thyroid and diabetes. I mentioned my exposure in 1980-84 to radiation, PCBs and mercury as it was things we worked with daily in the service. She put something in my notes and the next thing I knew I got a letter from the VA talki…

Missed filing a VA claim within one year presumptive...
Hi all So I am trying to wrap my head around filing the claim within one year thing and it is presumed to be service-connected. I have googled and searched this forum, but I am still a little confused. 🖍️😖 So way back in June of 2007 (discharge Dec 2006) I went to the VA and enrolled for medical care. I sought treatment for my back, anxiety/depression/eating disorder. And started getting help. I also was approved for some program in the VA where they were going to pay for me to go to CDL school. I didn't do that cause I found another job on my own. Anyway, no one mentioned I could file a claim. I thought I had to be missing an appendage or something. S…

Rheumatoid Arthritis due to burn pits
Is r/a now a presumptive condition for se Asia. I’m an OIF vet and was finally diagnosed with r/a 2 years ago. I complained about stiff joints for 8 or 9 years. Finally they had an answer R/A. My r/a civilian doc says r/a was caused by burn pits and silica. She says she will write a nexus and fill out a dbq. She already knew about the connection of burn pits being associated with cancer and autoimmune disorders. I’m on humira which helps somewhat. But it’s still bad on my fingers, toes, hips, and shoulders. She also said she’d complete a fibro packet as well. Is this worth pursuing? Or will they shoot it down?

Individual Ready Reserve Activation consideration in Disability Claim
Hi, 😀 This is my first post, USMC 2002-2006 3521 OIF 2006. I had a question and wasn't really sure where to find the answer. I am applying for a disability claim, PTSD in service in Iraq, anxiety, and depression,.... I am filing by myself, my VSO ghosted me for several months and I moved on. I have done the C&P for all my mental health claims a couple of weeks ago and my claim is in the review stage. My question is, in November of 2008 a whole bunch of us 3521s were called back or activated I am not sure while in IRR (2006-2010). I was fedex'd orders, given a plain ticket to Kansas City, and we stayed in a hotel with some kind of military personnel a…

National Guard during Desert Storm eligibility
Hi Everyone, I'm asking this for a friend of mine who is struggling with getting accurate info about his eligibility for VA disability compensation. He was in the National Guard and was activated and deployed to Germany for 9 months during Desert Storm. He saw no combat, and was never in the Persian Gulf. After 9 months in Germany his unit proceeded on to Kuwait, but he returned home. He received a flyer in the mail that he may qualify for VA Health Care (which I think he does based on some reading). He feels he has a hearing loss claim as well as a few other things, but he can't come up with a clear answer as to whether he qualifies. He did talk to a VSO who do…

Cluster Headache/Migraines
I have a question concerning headaches. I am rated for cluster headaches(10%). I have been having migraines 2 to 3 times a month and have been prescribed medication so it is now documented in my records. I have recently received my rating for PTSD and I am trying to figure out should I apply for and increase for my cluster headaches since I am already service connected or do I apply separately for migraines and s/c it to because of my PTSD? From what I have read all they fall under the same category. I am working my headache log. Is there anything else I need to do? Any help is appreciated

I am about to file a claim for Headaches. Below is the information I will supply in the claim. Do you think it will suffice?
Hello all, below is what I plan on filing with my VA claim. Do you think it will suffice? I was sure to point out I have a current diagnosis by the VA. A convincing nexus along with how the condition has already been acknowledged as being secondary to my current rated condition. Backed by citation of another veterans review. And finally, criteria of my condition and how it falls in line with the 50% rating for headaches. Beginning of claim "Headache Claim With a recent suggestion of my VA Primary Care physician to include daily intake of Zyrtec and Flonase to ease my Allergic Rhinitis symptoms, my headaches have began to occur less frequently an…

First Baby dependant question
Hello, I just had my first child yesterday. Mother and baby are doing great! I went online to add her as a dependent and it says I need her social security number. I was told I won't get the social security number for 8 to 10 weeks. Can I file this using the form my states department of health gave me that can be used for insurance and paid family leave? If not it says my current application expires June 1st. If I get the number in time when would my effective date be? If I don't get the social security number in time will I effectively benefits for a couple months? I'm currently 70% service connected. Please ask any questions i…
