Establishing Service Connection For Veterans Affairs Disability Compensation
Establishing Service Connection for Veterans Affairs Disability Compensation: There are two types of service-connection Direct and Presumptive There are three requirements to establish Direct service-connection for residuals of injuries and diseases; In-service documentation of an injury or disease. A current condition with a medical diagnosis. "Before November 2000, when the VCAA was enacted, veterans had to obtain a medical diagnosis of a current disability on their own. The VA was not generally obligated to help them in obtaining this medical evidence. Some veterans, who could not afford a private doctor, were placed in a no win situation…

What Exactly Do Service Officer Do For Vets?
I am trying to find out what exactly the system is, that the service officers do/ Ok for instance. My claim is at the waco va, on re open. The service officer is in the same building with the va. Somewhere in the va, lies my claim. I know my service officer has access to my c-file, because he has my power of retardee. So now what. I was told there are 15 service officers in waco for my service org. I would imagine they are assigned cases, based on whatever, such as complicated, or simple based on thier experience. Im just trying to picture what is actually going on,. Im envisioning a service rep sitting at a desk in his office., And im envisioning the va personell …

ptsd Gathering Of Evidence Development Letter
Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I've been looking through some of your forum for the past couple of months, but this is my first post (so i hope I'm posting in the correct thread). I submitted my FDC in January of this year. I just recently received news that I am in the Gathering of Evidence phase. Please do not judge me for what i about to say. I know many of you served honorably and i only wish that that could have been my case (it haunts me every moment of everyday). I was raped in my Advanced Training Unit and did attempt to exorcise every effort to obtain a discharge to get away from my attacker. My chain of command kept "losing" my discharge paperwork and …

Gerd, IBS, and Urinary Incontinence secondary to NSAIDS
I am getting ready to file an FDC claim for IBS-C, Gerd, and Incontinence secondary to NSAIDS and wanted to see if anyone has any opinions or suggestions, if i might have missed anything. So here goes. I have been on a high daily dose of NSAIDS to treat my sc systemic lupus for well over seven years. About two years ago, i began having moderate gastro problems, that has worsened to the point that these conditions are almost as bad as the lupus, which leaves me bedridden about a week a month. Every time i go to urgent care for the lupus, i complained of the constipation, abdominal pain, nausea, and at times, vomiting. After about a year of these symptoms worsening, i was d…

Nexus letter if I have photographic proof?
Hello, new here. Working through getting an increase on my s/c issues and it has been brought to my attention I should have had my left knee s/c this whole time (medically retired 12 years ago). I have photographs of me competing in triathalons while wearing a knee brace on my left knee while on active duty. Platts data with my matching bib number backs up the dates of the photographs. Is this enough for the VA to service connect or should I still get a nexus letter? I’m s/c for pes planus and right knee, so could definitely get a letter for left knee secondary to those issues, but would prefer to just submit what I have. It seems like a smoking gun, but don’t want to ass…

Va Stealing Money From Veterans Through Private Health Insurance!
Moderators....not sure if this is the right forum for this discussion, but it does fall under the issue of disability compensation since it is directly related to it. So I made my best guess, but if I am wrong feel free to move it to the appropriate forum. Anyhow, I, as the veteran, who is 100% service connected for a bladder disorder, chronic thoracic, cervical, and lumbar muscle strain, degenerative disc disease of the entire spine, fibromyalgia, IBS, and several other conditions just learned that the Department of Veterans Affairs has been billing my 3rd party private insurance company since July 2009 for examinations, blood tests, an MRI, and follow-up office visit…

ptsd Ptsd Fraud
:D :D :o :D :D Just read on VA Watchdog where many "veterans" are lying about stressors in order to claim benefits. I was a Dog Handler in Nam "70" - "71", 101st 47th IPSD. Tried for several years to get SR benefits for injuries and PTSD received while overseas but always got the same old story....WE NEED PROOF OF STRESSORS. Now after almost 40 years and many sleepless nights and nightmares, failed relationships, going from job to job, etc., I'm finally coming to terms with my past "life". I'm close to receiving benefits for Dabetes II and anxiety disorder, the latter not PTSD because I don't believe the "examiner" did his homework. My question is, …

Vietnam Purple Heart Search
Aloha, I'm not sure this is the correct forum to post this into, but during a record search at home in regard to another issue I found a letter from a Captain to a Commanding General, United States Army Vietnam requesting I be awarded a Purple Heart for wounds suffered while flying a mission in the Vietnam Theater of Operations. I also have a copy of the treatment records from the emergency room. I remember the incident and going to the emergency room. I don't remember the application for the Purple Heart. The date of the letter requesting the Award was dated after my return from Vietnam. The Captain who took me to the emergency room has since died. I requested …

20% Disabled Id Card?
Hello, I have searched and searched for an answer to this question but there just doesn't seem to be one out there so I will ask here. How do I get some kind of ID card proving 20% disability? Everytime I try to use a veterans discount for something they ask for an ID card. I am talking about trivial things of course like discounts at Lowe's for instance.

depression secondary to chronic pain
I finally did it. I asked my MH doc if he thought I had enough basis for a claim. He has me currently DXd with MDD. He told me that while I do have MDD, he's not so sure I could be successful with that as a claim for SCD. He asked me if I was 100%, I said no, but I am 80%. And he asked, then, if I was being paid at 100%. Said no, and he hmmmmm'd. Then I asked if chronic pain made any difference. He said all depends. I told him that I fell down a flight of stairs during my 5th day of boot camp back in November of '92. Said I've been dealing with pain in my knees and lower back ever since that day. And have developed other issues that cause more pain as well. He…

100%TDIU and turning 65 Medicare and VA?
I have been on 100% TDIU for several years, and now I am coming up on age 65. I have a basic employee provided health insurance plan through Aetna from my Teachers Retirement System of Texas. This TRS-CARE1 program has informed me that after age 65, that they will become a "secondary payer". If I understand this correctly, what was once an 80/20 plan (TRS-CARE1) now becomes a 20/80 plan. I have a number of questions/concerns in how that works with VA 100% TDIU Disability. The VA has been billing Aetna (TRS-CARE1) for services I receive from the VA (contracted rate, 80%, etc). How does this change when I turn 65? I am receiving SS benefits at this time, so …
