"awarded" 0% T.b.i. ?!
Hi all, I was given 10% for tinnitus and 0% rating for my T.B.I. that is documented but the examiner said that there were no "residual complications" as a result of the T.B.I. Stated that in my medical records the T.B.I. had resolved itself and that I was fine. This flies in the face of the fact that after this injury I had a dramatic shift in my moods, became severely depressed, had violent outbursts and even a suicide attempt. My T.B.I. occured in 1982 and after I left the service in 1984 I couldn't hold a job and ended up living on the streets in Mpls. until I went into a private treatment facility. I had no idea at the time that I could recieve any medical treatment t…

>For member jfrei (SMC-t)
jfrei Just wanted to let you know If you have not done so check out the SMC-t Criteria for your TBI w/ residuals As I under stand if you been S.C for TBI & have the Residuals you may qualify for the SMC-t ? and if you do .....>you may want to request it or file a claim for it, I'm not sure how so you may want to check with your VSO. The SMC t is fairly new, but I was searching some of the SMC S to see if veterans qualify's for it when Awarded TDIU w/ P&T AND Their disability is not expected to improve over there life time and they can't leave home for work so in essences this makes him/her Home Bound by reason of there S.C. Disa…

100% P&T TBI/PTSD finally!
Finally got my rating after battling only 3 years. 60% in 6 months, then 190 total after one year. Thanks to The Ellis Clinic and Dr. Valette, they were able to get the ball rolling on my initial TBI and increase for PTSD claims. They also helped in several other key areas and claims. 5 total C&P's (3 TBI & 2 PTSD) by the VA and it all worked out in my favor. Combined with an additional 92% on top of the 100% also qualified me for SMC. Wasn't expecting that. What a relief. I hope it's all over and no more C&P's. But I won't let my guard down. I will keep seeking treatment for my issues. It does help. I still do work part time as well. I want to…

100% TDIU - Permanent and Total: TBI and general Question
Hello all, Ever since suffering a cold knockout from a vehicular fall, and down the side of a levee/cliff during the invasion of Iraq (14-20 feet, directly on back of head: ACH was worn at the time, and NVG's [AN-PVS5's] were on my face.), I have had a variety of cognitive issues and total behavioral personality change. I am already 100% Permanent and Total (as the title says), and diagnosed with mTBI and PTSD, to which the majority of my award is granted towards PTSD. My LOC (Loss of Consciousness) was probably around 30 minutes if you consider me "coming to" briefly from time to time (being fireman carried by my TC, and then lifted by said TC, MOPP gear, M16 and …

ptsd 46 Years Later
Hi All, Just received the rating of 70% PTSD, 10% hearing loss and 10% tinnitus, today received the white envelope with the retro!! Next thing I know I get a Federal Express Envelope from my local VAMC and a letter in the mail from the VARO today. They have a C&P scheduled for me on April 30th for TBI at my local VAMC and the VARO wants information regarding my claim for TBI. I never filed a claim for TBI however when I had the C&P for the PTSD the examiner noted that I had a TBI in November 1964 and was put on light duty for 4 months but recovered and went on to serve in Vietnam. I called my DAV Service Officer and he told me to go to the C&P so I don't …

Any advice will be appreciated. Here is what I have: 70% PTSD with panic attacks 50% sleep apena 30% IBS 30% migraine including migraine variants (also claimed as headaches), residuals of traumatic brain injury. ( the professional thing re: a migraine rating is that.....going into the BVA process, i did not have a migraine rating. I did have a 10% TBI rating. The law judge found the migraine diagnosis in my reccords, ordered another TBI eval, and once the eval was done, my 10% TBI was changed to 30% migraine. I need to get to 100% P & T. The route i want to take is get my 30% migraine up to a 50% migraine. I know the elements t…
