Quest To Prove Tbi
Like many of you I spend way to much time thinking about this stuff but I decided to keep an updated logg of my progress and what better place to keep it than here. Back in 98 while in basic training I was knocked unconcious when a fellow recruit hit me in the head from behind by swinging butt stock of his m16 like a batt. I was unconcious for nine hours and awakened at 3 am when I was found in the woods. The drill sgts swept it under the rug and was simply labeled as a training accident. Fast forward 14 years and I have many problems. Sever loss of hearing Loss of balance Slurred speech Numbness in left facial area with drooling Decreased memory It wa…

Tbi C&p Yesterday
Just had my C&P for TBI due to MVA 20 years ago. The examiner stated she read my c-file, and thanked me for putting together such a "great" claims package. She asked a few questions about the accident itself, memory, headaches, ect. Then checked my reflexes, vision, and asked about my sense of smell. On my way out the door, she stated that I was SC for TBI, and the RO willl decide my %. All totaled the exam was 7:36. Does this sound right?

Tbi Or Post Concussion Syndrome
Now here's a gem I got in a letter from the VA today: "Please be advised that you were previously denied Service-Connection for TBI and you are currently Service-connected for Post Concussive Syndrome." Huh? Now, it would seem inherently logically that in having a post concussive syndrome that one must have suffered at minimum a concussion...which according to the VA's own manual is the result of a TBI. Any opinions on how to respond to this?

Tbi Va Low Ball Help
I am rated by the VA for TBI at 40%. I have had a neuro-psych exam and the findings fit the 70% criteria. The VA rated me lower because of a finding of a learning disability referenced in my childhood doctors files. Yes this is what they used to give me a lower rating. I guess it amounts to a preexisting condition. I filled a NOD stating and referring to the exam. I believe the time as passed to file another NOD. I should have asked for help earlier but it is what it is. Is there anything I can do? Possible have another exam. Also the neuro exam that I refer to was privately administered and submitted by me with my claim. The VA never sent me to have an exam ot…

ptsd Tbi Denied
Hello Everyone, I need some advice. I put in a claim in Dec 2009 for TBI, Tinnitus in my left ear and hearing loss in my left ear. I received my award letter today. DENIED not service connected. In July 2006 my Humvee was hit by a RPG in Iraq. I was the passenger, the RPG hit the driver side. ( which would be my left side). We were not hurt just shaken up and disorentated for a few minutes. We didn't receive medical care therefore there is no record of it. I did receive a Combat Action Ribbon for this incident. How do I go about proving this? In my letter from VA it says The recent examination for TBI porposes was essentually normal indicating either a very…

Tbi Question
Okay, my mind wanders and I been wonderin. Say one incurred a concussion, knocked out and recovers enough to be released next day, recorded in medical records, is that considered a TBI? Treatment at 2 different hospitals, but later released after being 'watched' overnight. Or is a TBI a severe impact that causes a chronic condition, needs followup care, stivitches bandaged, surgery etc? To have the TBI recognized as such, does the vet need ongoing care? or just wait until something occurs that 'reconnects' the injury to a current condition? The dumb question is the one not asked, cg

Tbi C&p
I filed a claim over a year ago which the VA is still adjudicating for Menier's disease, although they all tell me they think it's Menier's disease they keep testing for other causes of my reported sympmtoms (i.e., migraines, etc). I received a call from the people handling my case stating that, after review, they feel my symptoms are indicative of a TBI and asked to file a claim for TBI on my behalf. I agreed. The problem is this; I'm a Viet Nam Viet and my head wound occured in 1968. I now have an upcoming C&P appointment for TBI and upcoming appointments with ENT for my pending Menier's claim (i.e., they have already awarded me 30% for labyrithisis but have agreed …
