Long Motorcycle Ride To My Initial Vr&e Appt Yesterday
And it was a hell of a motorcycle ride from my house. Turns out I need a softer seat for that ride. Anyway, I went for the initial meeting with my counselor, who seemed nice enough, but was easily distracted. I had to go in without a plan, which I know, is HIGHLY discouraged, but I didn't know what it is that I wanted to do. I never had to think about something like that prior to this program. Before and after my time in the Marines, all I knew was manual labor and an education seemed like something that just wasn't for me. Now with my conditions, it made it even more difficult to find out not only what I wanted to do, but what my conditions allowed me to do. So I real…

Bachelors Almost Completed; Told No-Way Jose' For Masters
I've got another year left before I complete my undergrad and since it takes so long for the VA to approve anything, I figured now would be the best time to request approval for my Masters. My question for the forum is, does anyone anyone have advice on how I can either appeal this decision or get another VA case manager to approve my request? I didn't submit a formal request. This communication was an email inquiry. I moved to the UK back in December 2013 and my Ch. 31 was sent to Pittsburgh. I had fairly decent communication with my previous case manager, but my new manager doesn't seem to be the most amiable person on the planet. Thanks.

Hi Brothers and Sisters I'm new here so bare with me. My name is Jose and i'm 70% SC for MDD and Chronic Back pain.I applied for Chap. 31 in Puerto Rico where i reside and my careerscope test was done and i decided i want to major in Bachelor's degree in International Relations. I got accepted into Univ of Bridgeport in Conneticut for the major and i was given a scholarship but i'm having a serious hard time with VA. My counselor informed me that i had to take 1 semester of courses(12 credits) on a local college and raise my GPA to transfer to be admitted. i don't understand why since i sent her the letter of admission to Bridgeport Univ. and i believe they don…

School Done, Got A Job, Lost My Job
This is my 3rd job in 5 years. I'm pretty sure my mental disorder is 50, not the thirty that I'm rated at. My voc councilor changed 6 times and I'm pretty sure none of them took into account my depression. I failed to make any social connections during four years of school, nor did I when working. I tried on several attempts to contact my VRE councilor and open a dialogue about my work issues. He always sent back generic emails. I kind of deep overlooked. I just applied for SSDI and that brought me to tears, I'm only 35 but my back has been shot since I was 20. I'm always sad and now confused. Any advice would help. Peace Ck

Will Voc Rehab Send Me To College
will voc rehab send me to college to to be a automotive mechanic when the current average of people in that Field with an AA is 11%, i truly believe that number is going to go much higher do to improvements in technology and the growing trend of highly technical flex fuel, hybrids, and electrical vehicles coming into the market. so based on what I'm looking at should i be prepared for them to send me to on the job training. any ideas on how i should handle the situation?

tdiu "percent" Discrimination -- Is It An Issue For Voc Rehab?
Thanks to all the vets on this site. Information and success stories you've shared have been helpful -- especially in the two year journey to finally getting rated. I am considering a TDIU claim and possibly SSDI, but thought I should look into vocational rehab first. The question is whether counselors "write off" veterans who have high disability ratings, particularly in the mental health area. I am 90% schedular as follows: 70% Generalized Anxiety Disorder 50% Sleep Apnea 10% Lumbo-sachral strain 10% (Each) Left knee and right knee 10% Right ankle The GAD was based on several factors that would cause me to reject an applicant for a job interview if I was a…

Will Voc Rehab Deny Aas/remedial Classes
I would like to use my voc rehab benefits to go to school for an AAS in automotive technology (mechanic). I understand that voc rehab likes to put you in a field where you already have a proven track record of knowledge and/or experience. The problem is that all of my work experience is in the culinary arts, but the stress of a kitchen environment is not compatible with my disability, so I cannot do that anymore. And I do not have any "official" experience in mechanic work. I have done a lot of work on my own vehicles and family vehicles (even an engine rebuild I did by myself). Will they be likely to approve my request to obtain this degree? Secondly, I am way behind o…
