Naproxen Case - Still Waiting

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Recieved a letter from VA on Oct. 12 apologizing for the delay and they are still processing my application for compensation. Its hard waiting as we all know. I did get SSDI back dated to April 05 which was good but I am still waiting on the VA and i haven't heard a word from the P.O. on disability retirement. I had a C&P exam on August 10, C-file was not available for review by examiner and the examiner said the person that I was to see was on sick leave. He also stated he didn't know anything about neuological problems. My original problem was severe GI bleed from naproxen, due to severe low blood pressure I had a watershed effect of the cervical cord, which is a stroke of the cervical cord. Its caused me to loose my job at the P.O. and left my whole upper body numb from the waist up to my forehead. I've had 3 EMG's, 4 MRI's, about 100 blood draws, numb arms, shoulders, and no energy. I've been to the best specialists and no one in the country has seen this problem before. If I get denied i want the VA to contact my doctors on what the problem is because none of my doctors or neurologists have ever seen this. I'm happy for everyone who has had success on there claim. I have insurance but my part of the bill that I have to pay is eating us up. I've been rambling on, just wanted to talk about it I guess.

Mike,

I feel for you. Sorry to hear that you are not well, but I feel more for your mind in the fact that the VA docs can't figure it out yet. Godspeed to good health, or at least hopefully something you can live with.

Mike:

Sorry just saw your post when 10ftFO responded to it. This is the time of year that many claims push through for some reason. Hang in there the VA does not like to admit to bad medicine but I think that you have a good claim.

Mike,

You might want to contact Dr. Bash. He has done a lot of research that might be helpful to you. And he is an excellent neuroradiologist so you might want him to take a look at your imaging reports.

Have you already filed a claim for this under Sec. 1151?

I'm sorry you have suffered this.

I've filed my 1151 claim through my area Vietnam Vets SO. dI went to the Hands and Upper Extremity Center of N.

I've filed my 1151 claim through our area Vietnam Vets SO back in May 05. Weve submitted many Dr. reports that all state my problem was caused by naproxen. All the evidence is at the VA, except my last Dr. visit in Oct. My main problem was GI bleed which has been fixed. I'm suffering from problems secondary to GI bleed which is now the major problem. I've been to the Hands and Upper Extremities Center in Appleton, 5 DR's there and none have seen this problem before. They then checked around the country to see if any DR. had any experience with watershed effect of the cervical cord and all my symtoms and no one ever seen this problem before. I'm waiting until Jan. 1 and if I don't hear anything I'm filing a mal practice suit.
