Partial Agent Orange Report:

Received a partial Agent Orange report from one our group today. Kind of an overall summary on Agent Orange, at least in part.

I think you will find the financial involvement by DoD in the National Academy of Science interesting and also shows a “direct conflict of interest.” If in fact, it is even close to the level of financial support indicated.

As most of you know after returning from DC I was really ill. After those issues seemed to resolve I had new symptoms that arose that my doctor wanted me to see a specialist. After running blood work he said he did not like it. So I did. The new doctor confirmed I had ostio arthritis in my knees, which has been obvious for at least 12 years now. She said the joint was nothing but chipped bone fragments. Now VA seven years ago said it was part and parcel to the nerve damage but then did not include that in the rating at all. Including VA medical told me not to worry about it. Nice folks.

Now of course during the office visit she discussed what I had and what I did not have and then the blood work she was going to do. She told me that since I did fit the mold for RA it probably would come back negative. I told her and thoroughly explained why Vietnam Veterans are not typical of what she learned in med school but atypical in about every case with the dysfunctional immune system created. I also told her because of the "government information void created" was the reason that she did not know. I gave her a copy of my book to read and comment on.

Welllllll, low and behold first thing this AM I get a phone call from her and she says you were right! Your tests confirm RA as a diagnosis. Anyway should be an interesting office visit in two weeks. I still think there is more that she and others are not seeing because testing positive for RA and the other factors she tested for can mean other issues as well. She is going to give me a copy of the tests and write a letter for me to send up to Bob Walsh my lawyer in my case. I got to where every time I tried to work on my own case it just made me worse mentally and physically. That is what VA does for you.

Now this little scenario was not about me but you fellows. I know we have to work on getting the all site cancers approved as priority; I think we must establish that for our campaigning Army and their widows past, present and future. However, to then say we can have all these cancers and no dysfunctional immune systems creating a host of symptoms including systemic connective tissue disorders would not be logical in science and medicine. Dioxin and other similar toxic chemicals that affect the body at the lowest level of human biology cannot be and would be impossible to be site or symptom(s) specific.

No one in my family, as I am sure many of you are in the same situation, has ever had any of the crap I have; not even one part of any symptom.

Bob, I will get that new medical stuff to you as soon as I can. Not that it will do any good but for the record anyway.

While not definitive, certainly points to the systemic chronic daily Fatigue, low-grade fever (which seems to be constant and just saps all your strength, muscle and joint aches, and stiffness. Especially in the chronic and then acute temporary phases where I feel like I am burning up and eat 10 or 12 popsicles during the day to try and feel better. Even though I am taking aspirin or such.

Too bad I am not healthy to really put a fight, because if I was I can promise you this... Congress would have its hands full. And it would not be pretty!

But we shall march order next year and get done what we can with help of some of the few members of Congress that might actually give a damn.
