burning, pins, and needles pain top left thigh anybody have this? especially bad at night keeps me awake or will wake me up, this has been going on over a year i think, and i thought it would go away on it's on, but no luck so far, going to the doc later this month, i think she will say probably a pinched nerve, lose weight. but if anyone else knows what this is, please clue me in, so i can ask good questions at the exam. my left knee seems to be afu these days also hear a sound and then it kind of locks up on me, i'm hoping they can give me a cane for someone my height, i have one but it's for a taller person and i'm 5' though i think i might do better with a walking stick. sorry to go on, it just driving me crazy, sometimes i walk with the damn cane and my knee doesn't go out, then i quit walking with the cane and the knee does go out. i can not get down the basement stairs anymore and right now my niece is coming over to do my laundry, i really need to start throughing some cash her way. but if she can't come, no laundry for me. just frustrated, when i think of what some of you folks are going through, i sound like a cry baby oh my leg hurts, big deal, suck it up. but would like to know if others have this

it sounds like it could be arthritis,I have rheumatoid and I have the same symptoms also with the knees.I use a wheelchair at home and scooter to go to doctor because my knees would give out and I fell several times before I went to using chair.the cane was great for a while but unable to get up when fall.the doc will probably check for r factor in bloodwork but if not ask for that.good luck and hope this helps.

Yeppers. My right thigh feels like it is asleep all the time (pins and needles) and from the knee down is totally dead with a foot drop. Your L5 nerve root is impinged. It may be as simple as a few visits to a chiropractor to fix it, or you may have a herniated L4-5 or L5-S1 disc. If it's the latter, it could take heat/ice/rest/naproxen to cure, or physical therapy, or pain meds and gabepentin (which I ended up being allergic to) or surgery. If it has recently started, get to the doc asap. Don't be like me and say, "oh, it will probably go away." It doesn't. I waited to long and the nerve damage is permanent. Your knee problem probable caused this. Knee problems make us change our gait (gives us a limp). That is brutal on the lower back and causes all kinds of problems.

Your knee either has chondromalacia (arthritis) or a torn meniscus, or both. You need to get a MRI to be sure which. I have both of these, plus a buckled ACL. If your knee is service connected, talk to your VA PCP about a HISA grant. The VA will pay up to a certain amount to remodel a portion of your house. You may be able to get a upstairs laundry area for free. Good luck with it, cause I know how bad these things suck.

Its sounds like neuropathy to me. Please talk to your Doc about this. My neuropathy is helped by Gabapentin.

Good Luck

I HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS BUT THEY ARE IN MY RIGHT LEG. IT STARTED WITH PINS/NEEDLES, ACHING, NUMBNESS, THROBBING AND NOW ITS LIKE THROBBING AND BURNING REAL BAD. AFTER SITTING BETWEEN 30-40 MINUTES IT STARTS BURNING REAL BAD. AT NIGHT ITS LIKE SOMEBODY PUTTING ELECTRICITY TO MY LEG WHEN I MOVE POSITIONS. AND NOW MY LEFT LEG IS STARTING TO GO NUMB ACROSS MY THIGH. HAD A SLEEP STUDY DONE ON THE 4TH OF NOV AND I COULDN'T SLEEP THAT WELL BECAUSE OF THE PAIN IN MY RIGHT LEG. ANY ADVICE FOR ME, I'LL LOVE TO HEAR IT.
