Any Home Grants, Special Loans Available For A 100% Rated, But Not Physically Disabled Vet?

Question

Hello everyone,

I will hopefully be purchasing a home in the next 6 months or so. I am wondering if the there are any grants or special loans that might be avalable to me. I am rated at 100% SC by the VA. But, I am not physically disabled. The grants I see on the VAs website are for people to modify their homes to accomodate them.

Thanks for any tips.

Welcome to Hadit. As I understand it if you get a VA Loan they will knock points off and some fees. The end result is about half of the loan origination cost is taken off. Usually thousands of dollars. It used to be that the lenders did not like VA loans and now they do.

If you lived in Texas they have grants for first time home buyers you really should contact a good real estate person who is familiar with VA and disabled. Also in Texas they have State Veteran Programs that allow you to finance improvements and help with downpayments.

I suggest that you use google to help.

As Pete has just mentioned, the states have various programs to help Vets, it's not just the Federal Government.

And, as he has stated, Texas has some very good benefits for Vets, as do many of the states.

I get a heck of a hunk of my property tax taken off each year, for example.
