I had a real scare last night, I awoke at 03:35 in a cold sweat, nervous, and confused, I recognized the symptoms as Hypoglycemia. So I drank some OJ, and ate a piece of candy. I am going to my Internal Med Doc this PM. I am affraid of the insulin due to the cancer surgery, I feel like I am not eating enough or maybe too much for the insulin to act properly, Has anyone had experience with this and if so can you offer any advice.

BTW: when this happened I stuck my finger and got a glucose reading of 48

Lantus is a good med and is used to help balance. You may need to adjust you intake of other meds for diabetes. Maybe eat some cheese crackers or something as a bedtime snack.

Good Luck

Pete is right. lantus is a good med. My doc told me to take it at night befor you go to bed as lantus is a time release med but before you take it check your blood sugar and lower the dose to match it. If its high the next morning then increase the next does one unit . This will take few days to get it right. Keep a record of your night time readings until its whre you want it. Diabetes is hard thingn to control but it can be done. Hope everything goes good for you.
