Veteran Dependants With Chloracne

Hello, this post may be the wrong forum, but I'm posting this in hopes that may be someone knows anything about this.

My name is Joseph, I'm a 25 year old male ,dependant of a surviving Vietnam Veteran, My Father served During the years of '66 to '68. As you all know the side effects of Agent Orange, I have inherited the blood disorder Chloracne. My Chloracne is severe, I have lesions on my chest, back, arms, behind my ears and face. My question is also in hopes to help those children who also go through Chloracne skin disorder. Is There compensation for Chloracne in Vietnam Vet dependants yet? I heard there was an Act to pass through, but I havent heard anything yet, my father is currently fighting his VA compensation to this day. I'd rather not call a lawyer, because my dad's VA representative told me to wait til he gets my Dad settled, then he would help me. What should I do now to help myself so If and when im available for compensation?

Spina Bifida. The Veterans’ Benefits Act of 1997 granted benefits for children of Vietnam veterans who were suffering from spina bifida (38 U.S.C. §1805).

This is the only condition conceded to children of a male veteran. There are other conditions conceded to children of a female veteran.

Sharon is correct.

There is a woman who is starting a movement to attempt to have other disabilities service connected in children of veterans.

The problem with that is that veterans themselves have long struggles to attain what is there proper compensation.

Can your dad come aboard here-we can try to offer help with his claim.BVut if he claims chloracne-however- the regs are what they are.

As an advocate I have never seen the VA service connect chloracne in a veteran

due to AO in well over 20 years.If you read the actual AC chloracne regs you will understand why.

At SVR radio we did a show recently where the woman I mentioned talked about starting a grassroots drive for legislation to allow children of to vets to gain comp in addition to the situations Sharon mentioned.

Hello:

I hope this is not disappointing, however I have a daughter with

spina bifida, I have suspected chloracne and my daughter suffers with same type of bumps on the arms chest neck and back. The only hope I can offer is the va dosen't rec. these as chloracne. The only thing I have found to rid the bumps is pure bleach. a damp swab with bleach wiping over the bumps will make them dissapear, no help for scaring. they will leave scars. Hope the VA will eventually rec this.

VA does not recognize chloracne in children of Vietnam veterans for VA claims purposes.
