Question

Just received reply needed letter In the mail April 18th. I have claimed respiratory problems since I have lost 35% lung function. Prostrate problems since I get up 5 to 7 times nightly and Avodart has been taken for 6 months with no help but PSA is still negative. Also a 40 % hearing loss in both ears. Also have tinitus in both ears constantly. My letter was addressed to my first name and my wifes last name. Checked my paperwork just to be sure and the only place my wifes name is listed is as a dependant. How they came up with that is beyond me. They are asking for VA Form 21-4142 for each doctor that I went to for each problem. I filled out all of those for doctor in front of my VSO and watched him put them in the envelope with my claim. I also submitted copies of all medical records for all tests completed by each doctor. My pulmonary doctor said when I asked him if my condition could be related to agent orange he said he could neither say yes or no. The tech that did the test said it had to be something inhaled because when he administered abutoral it only improved by 7 %. They also want to know when all of my problems started and I really don't know because I never went to doctors before last year. I have had ringing in the ears for as long as I can remember after the military. The same with the breathing problems but it has been getting worse every year. Can anyone give me any advice please. I was in DaNang 69-70

Prostate 'problems' are not on the Agent Orange list- Prostate Cancer is-

You need to prove an inservice nexus for all of these disabilities.

Hearing loss and tinnitus can be claimed to service if your MOS put you into high volumes of noise.

I dont see basis for Agent Orange claim here but if you can prove the in-service nexus to these problems, they would service connect them.

I hope you have your SMRs. They would reveal any hearing problems noted in service as well as links to the other problems.

This all has to be proven to the VA.

The doctor's statement on the possible AO connection to your pulmonary condition wont help you.

If there is another inservice potential connection or link- he should follow the IMO guideline here-if he is willing to do an IMO.
